ABSTRACT: Flight Travel Magazine
Flight Travel is a fictive mini magazine that highlights certain tourist destinations per issue in order to raise
awareness regarding these locations. In this case, however, Flight bases its featured locations from literary
works such as short stories, poems and the like. The main objective of the mini magazine is to provide an
alternative means of closely reading a certain piece of literature that is creative, innovative and pleasing to the
senses. The magazine aims to bring to life certain imagery highly based on the setting of the literary work,
sort of reminiscent most travel magazines commercially available today.
This issue of Flight puts the limelight on Ursula K. Le Guin’s The Ones who Walk Away from Omelas. The story’s
vivid description of the city of Omelas is then fleshed out more in the magazine by supplying photos and
write-ups from the editor. More than stimulating the creative thought process such as photography and lay-
out creation, the magazine aims to develop the discussion of the literary text as a whole by incorporating
insights from other readers and featuring them likewise.
The end goal of the magazine is to stimulate not just the editor’s general grasp of concepts regarding
morality and ethics but as well as to generate interest in its readers, which ultimately snowballs off into a
more reflective mood.
