“What do you have stored for the day of want?” “What do you have stored for the day of want?” SGP SGP What is the National Staple Goods Purchase Project, a.k.a. Staple Goods Project (SGP)? The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad asked us, “What do you have stored in your houses for the day of want?” The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan has warned us to prepare for forthcoming weather disasters. To this end, we in the Nation of Islam Ministry of Agriculture (NOIMOA), organized our efforts and in 2011 began the cooperative purchase and distribution of staple goods. Adopting the “Cooperative Corporation” philosophy, each local Ministry of Agriculture Staple Goods Coordinator works to service their respective area encouraging us to pool our resources together as Individuals, Families, Communities, Organizations, Churches, Study Groups, Mosques, Cities, States and a Nation. Some of the goals for this type of cooperative economic system includes: 1. Participants are learning the process of bulk purchasing and cross country distribution, 2. They are learning the inner workings of national production, manufacturing and distribution systems, 3. They are learning and practicing principles of cooperative economics, 4. Collective decision making, 5. Group investing and operational unity. How does the SGP work? The National Staple Goods Purchase Project currently takes place bi-annually with 70+ cities participating throughout the U.S. Cities are represented by Staple Goods City Coordinators. All participants from Massachusetts to Florida to California pay the same price for the products, which includes shipping costs to their respective cities. For a city to participate, they must have a minimum total order of 500 lbs. Orders are collected by your City Coordinator who keeps each participant abreast of the process; when to collect your funds, and the delivery of your products when they arrive. In our efforts to avoid the ever increasing manipulated and chemicalized food stuffs created for consumption today, we are careful to select our products from suppliers with a commitment to quality, our health, and the environment. Our products line currently consists of the following items: 1. Muhammad Farms Premium Whole Wheat Flour 2. Muhammad Farms Cream of Whole Wheat Cereal 3. Sister Anne’s Bread & Muffin Mix 4. Navy Beans (50 lb bag) 5. Red Beans (50 lb bag) 6. Black Beans (50 lb bag) 7. Brown Lentils (50 lb bag 8. Red Lentils (50 lb bag) 9. Brown Rice (25 lb bag) 10. Demerara Sugar (Natural Sugar 50 lb bag) 11. Honey (unpasteurized) 12. Salt “Real Salt” brand 13. Seasonings (Custom blended hand crafted) 14. Coffee (Arabica premium coffee) 15. Applesauce (100% natural) 16. Navy Bean Soup (Instant creamy bean soup) 17. Freeze Dried Garlic 18. Soap Bars (Natural vegetable & goat milk based) 19. Garden Seeds (variety of vegetables for planting) Additional products currently being considered: Olive Oil, African Shea Butter, AloeDeeki an aloe- based face and body moisturizer, Frosted Granola Cereal.
