Welcome from Dr. Johnson

College Mission

About Tri-C Email

Welcome to Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®). As you begin to think about your future and charting your educational journey, Tri-C offers you one door with many options for success. You can earn an associate degree, which can lead to completion of a bachelor’s degree at a four-year institution or a job in the local community. Our certificate programs give you the opportunity to choose a technical path to quickly update your skills or pursue a new field of study.

We are focused on helping you reach your academic and career goals, but of course being successful at Tri-C is a shared responsibility and you must be engaged in the process. Beginning this fall, all first-time, full-time students will participate in the First Year Experience (FYE), which will connect you with the college community, help you identify a career path and create an educational plan that leads to your academic success and completion.

A Tri-C education is both powerful and valuable. Tri-C offers more than 1,000 courses and 140 degree programs and has the lowest tuition in Northeast Ohio. Starting your education at Tri-C can translate into an average savings of $13,000 in your first two years, when compared to starting at an Ohio public four-year institution. As we continue to innovate, we are working to meet you where you are. Tri-C is the leading provider of online learning opportunities in the state. You will appreciate the flexibility, choice and convenience of courses that accommodate your life. Select from offerings online, in the classroom or a combination of both.

I invite you to take full advantage of all the resources we offer. Open this door, and see where your success takes you.

Alex Johnson, Ph.D.President, Cuyahoga Community College

Waitlisting

Prerequisites

myT R I CSPACE

Waitlisting For CoursesStudents may add themselves to a waitlist for a class that has met its enrollment limit. Waitlisting eliminates the need to request a capacity override for a closed class, and gives a student the opportunity to register for a closed class should a seat become available. For more information visit https://portal.tri-c.edu/waitlist.

PrerequisitesCourse prerequisites are established by each department to ensure that the student has an adequate background to be successful in the course. A ‘C’ grade is required in the prerequisite course. Successful completion of a prerequisite course will be checked at the time of registration.

Note: Quarter courses taken prior to Fall 1998 to meet prerequisite requirements will require an exception form from a counselor-academic department or may be done electronically when you register online.

Program 60 RegistrationThrough Program 60, residents of Ohio age 60 and older may register for regularly scheduled credit and non-credit classes on a tuition-free, space-available audit (no credit) basis. Registrations are made through the Enrollment Center on dates shown on the Registration Calendar. For more information visit www.tri-c.edu/program60.

DARS and MAPThe Degree Audit Reporting System (DARS) is a software tool which significantly eases the academic advising process for students. DARS & MAP (My Academic Plan) compare academic program requirements against a student’s academic history. The resulting report lists courses taken that apply toward graduation, courses yet to be taken and courses that do not apply to the program major.  The ability of both students and staff to obtain this information is part of an effective academic advising program.  DARS is for all students enrolled prior to Fall 2014. MAP is the tool for students new to the College for Fall 2014. For specific degree information or if you have any questions, you are encouraged to schedule an appointment with a counselor: 216-987-6000, Option #4.

Affirmative Action, Equal Employment Opportunity and Non-Discrimination PolicyDiscrimination against any individual based upon a person’s age, ancestry, color, disability, genetic information, military status, national origin, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, and veteran status is prohibited. In addition, the College’s Title IX (related to sex discrimination) and Section 504 and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (related to disability discrimination) Coordinator is the Director of Diversity & Inclusion. The Coordinator can be reached at the above address and telephone number.

Emergency ClosingThe College is committed to providing the student with the maximum number of instructional days possible. Emergencies such as severe weather, fires, power failures or earthquakes can disrupt Tri-C operations. In extreme cases, these circumstances may require the College to close one or more of the campuses, sites, or the entire district. Emergency closing announcements will be broadcast over local electronic media, including television and radio stations. Messages will be sent to students, faculty and staff via the Tri-C Alert emergency notification system. When you register for classes, please remember to update your “Alert” information through my Tri-C space. Notifications will also be placed on the Tri-C Web site, my Tri-C space. (the College intranet) and the Tri-C main phone system. Specific details about any closings will also be available through the College’s toll-free ALERT phone number, 1-866-989-ALRT (2578).
