I DON’T DO NOSTALGIA

Trevor Tanner is a hard to catch and restless guy, but most of all, he’s a very talented musician. In 1987 was one of the very few who dares, with his band The Bolshoi, to come down to South America and play in these mysterious and dark lands, where they offer a memorable gig in the Obras Sanitarias Stadium, in Buenos Aires.

After The Bolshoi disbanded in 1988, Trevor edited several solo al-bums, including a wonderful triple-disc box set (Bullish, Bellyache & Belch) highly recommended. Now he’s working on a new solo project and, to collect founds for tou-ring, he appealed to an internet platform https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/434451690/the-bolshoi-favourites-breakdown-extravaganzaIn the middle of this busy present, we could grab him and, while one of us held him tight for a few minutes, he kindly answered between struggles.Dear Trevor: In the middle 80s, not many bands came to play to Argentina. The Bolshoi was one of those few. Which are your memo-ries of those days?

I must say, going to Argentina was a great experien-ce for us, not many bands did that…..I have great memories of very enthusiastic and fun audiences, Great steaks too! What happened when, with a new record ready to go out, The Bolshoi disbanded? We disbanded because we couldn’t get a record com-pany to believe in us, we believed in our music and were a little fed up that no one else did …..What did you do artistically when the band dissolved? After the Bolshoi, I have had many adventures, and have continued to release music independently. What differences do you find between the music in Bolshoi`s days and now in the present? The techno-logical facilities that allow anyone to auto-edit music that we have nowadays, do you think they are a bene-fit or a curse for the music? As far as the internet, social media and digital recor-ding goes, I find it all a bit tiresome. Now everyone is everything, but not in a real way. It all gets in the way of real life, no matter how many people you interact with online, it’s really just you in a room staring at a screen, it’s a bit sad .What's your opinion about the social network as a

diffusion tool and the controversy about piracy in the music business?Piracy in the music business has always been there, just different pirates these days.A few day ago a Bolshoi’s 5cd Box Set came out, in-cluding a lot of unpublished material (the long-awai-ted-never-edited 3rd album is there!). How was to re-find yourself with all that stuff? I still talk to Paul Clark , and w the advent of new material n the box set , I felt now was a good time to visit my past project in a positive way , I don’t do nostalgia …….Can we see you playing here in South America soon?I am very much looking forward to coming to S America soon, all being well.

Thank you very much Trevor to take the time for answer this questions
