Just returned home after attending the 6th Installation of Officers, for the C. Allen Pattison Chapter, Order of DeMo-lay held at Venice lodge. Installed as Master Councilor was Bro. Greg Ellis, son of PM Steve Ellis and grandson of PM Fred Ellis. Both Steve and Fred were present for the ceremony. Other brothers present were myself, JW John Brandon, Br. Don Coulter, Br. Paul Noller and Il-lustrious Lou Ort.
The other officers installed were Senior Councilor Bro. Eli Jason, Junior Councilor Bro. Evan Coffey, Senior Dea-con Bro. Erik Ronald, Junior Deacon Bro Austin Abernath, PMC, Senior Steward Bro. Seth Stavarz, Junior Steward Alex Sisson and Chaplain Joseph Romanczuk. Congratulations to all.
Petitions Guru Lou Kelly advises our Fellow Crafts are making substantial progress preparing for their proficiency as are our two Entered Apprentice Broth-ers. Their catechism instructors are work-ing with the new brothers and have been meeting at least twice a week.
Lodge Instructor Lou Kelly antic-ipates a Master Mason degree in April along with a FC Degree to follow. Exact Dates and times forthcoming.
We are going to have a busy March with our family outing to the Ro-deo in Arcadia. As per our Br. Tyler Walt a walking tour of Old, Arcadia will be available at about 10am.
Please meet at the Train Station at 9:30am. The Train Station is located on North Desoto Ave. (Route 17) be-tween Oak Street and Magnolia Ave (route 70)
There is parking around the Train Station. Behind the CVS across Route 17 there is parking and adjacent to the Sun Trust Bank on the North side of the Train Station. I imagine parking is going to be at a premium so arrive early.
The Parade route is down Oak St, the main street through town, which will probably tie things up getting to the Train Station. The Arena is about 2.5 miles from the Train Station. I suggest we try going to the arena and eat from the food vendors there. That will save running around and get us to the Stadium in time for the 1:00 Shoot Out.
Any Comments or Suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Looking for-ward to a great day. Thanks Br. Walt.
We are going to participant in this year’s district 23 Chili Challenge to help defray the costs associated with the Most Worshipful Grand Masters visit. Let's make it resounding success.
I’m putting together a list of brothers who are interested in purchasing lodge shirts. The shirts will be the Royal Blue, with Square & Compass and “Venice Lodge No. 301” on the left breast, your name on the right breast. You may get them with or without a pocket.
We use Polo (Collar) or T- shirt. If interested E-Mail me with size and pocket/no pocket. Prices are determined by the number of shirts ordered which should be around $27-$28 per shirt. E-Mail me with questions. I would like to order these shirts sometime in March.

Yee-Haw!!! I am so looking
forward to spending a day amongst
brothers and their families on March
10th at the Arcadia Rodeo. This is one
of many family events that we hope to
have going forward. If you think you
have a good idea for an event, please
share it with me. Regarding the Arcadia
Rodeo, please see below from our Ty-
ler, Walt Milne:
The Parade starts at 10am.
Please meet at the Train Station at
9:30am. The Train Station is located on
North Desoto Ave. (route 17) between
Oak Street and Magnolia Ave (route
70).
There is parking around the Train Sta-
tion. Behind the CVS across Route 17
there is parking and adjacent to the Sun
Trust Bank on the North side of the
Train Station.
I imagine parking is going to be at a
premium so arrive early.
The Parade route is down Oak St, the
main street through town, which will
probably tie things up getting to the
Train Station.
The Arena is about 2.5 miles from the
Train Station.
I suggest we try going to the arena and
eat from the food vendors there. That
will save running around and get us to
the Stadium in time for the 1:00p Shoot
Out.
Any Comments or Suggestions will be
greatly appreciated.
Also, could someone print this up for
W:. Lou Kelly?
Also, April will be here before
we know it. Please see me regarding
the Masonic Tail Gating Party at the
Sarasota Polo Grounds on April 8th.
The idea is to do a test run with our
lodge and potentially open the event to
the district in 2019. The cost is $12 per
person and the theme is “Around the
World.” Awards are given for best in-
ternational décor, best global cuisine,
and best international cocktail. The
gates open at 10a and the Polo match
starts at 1p. It will be a lot of fun!
Please let me know if you are interested
as soon as possible so that I can work
out the logistics.
Fraternally,
Br. Adam Kendall, Senior Warden

Family Dinner Menu
Another month has passed and it feels like summer is here. Got to love living in Florida, but that’s why we get so many northern brothers to visit. So far we’ve had a good year, our new Entered Apprentice and Fellow Craft brothers are progressing well in their studies and should be ready for advancement soon. Thank you to all our brothers for taking the time to assist them in their journey through masonry.
We have a Master Mason Degree scheduled for Saturday, 14 Apr 18, at 9:00 a.m. if you would like to volunteer to assist in either section of this degree please contact W:. Lou Kelly. Volunteer early before all the good parts are taken.
Just a reminder the Master Ma-son’s Association meeting will be hosted by Liberty Lodge #412 on 22 March 2018, and held at Manatee Lodge #31. The association meeting starts at 6:45 p.m. followed by the district school of instruction at 7:30 p.m., hope to see you there.
Information from the Master Ma-son Association Meeting held on 22 Feb 18. There will be a chili cook-off at the Shrine on 28 Apr 18, from noon until 2:00 p.m., with awards presented for the best chili. If anyone from Venice 301 would like to enter a team they should start planning now. W:. Steve Murphy/Association Secretary has the flyer for this.
W:. Mark Baltimore had the idea of selling decorative bricks as a fund
raiser for the lodge. This is a standard size brick engraved with the brother’s name and Venice Lodge #301. We have a sample of the brick at the lodge. One idea is to use the bricks to construct a rock garden or other type of area to dis-play the bricks. The cost is $35.00 per brick. If you are interested in purchasing a brick or wish to submit an idea on how we can display them please contact me. If there is enough interest we will pursue this project.
W:. Lou Kelly approached me with the idea of providing transportation to and from lodge for brothers who would like to attend lodge but can no longer drive. If you know of any brother who is in need of transportation or would like to volunteer to assist with this, please let myself or W:. Kelly know so we can make arrangements.
Masonic Quote of the month: Freemasonry is an ancient and respecta-ble institution, embracing individuals of every nation, of every religion, and of every condition in life. Wealth, power and talents are not necessary to the per-son of a Freemason. An unblemished character and a virtuous conduct are the only qualifications for admission to the order. Brother Andrew Jackson. 7th President of the United States (1829 – 1837). 6th Grand Master of Masons of Tennessee 1822.

Prayer
been in attendance at Communications where prayer has been called for or offered in an off-hand or grudging manner as if religion were an alien and intrusive thing and the art of worship a formali-ty done for the sake of appear-ance and, therefore, to be hur-riedly finished as though there could be more important mat-ters. Such behavior betrays a lack of understanding of the most elementary character of the Craft.
stands at the heart of the Fra as Altar stands at the center o the Lodge-room, as
members should not consult any memorandum duringprayer; the Secretary should dis-continue his work; all should rise and keep absolute silence while it is being offered. The prayer itself, if not in words prescribed by the Ritual, should be consonant with the faith of Masonry, never an expression of peculiar sectarian views or dog-matic creeds; on the other hand if a Chaplain, especially if he be aclergyman or rabbi, should chance to give expression to sec-tarian beliefs out of habit or through inadvertence, it is unfit-ting, and in spirit un-Masonic, for offense to be taken or for any Brother to dwell upon the fact, either during or after the close of the Communication.

The Masonic Home of Florida is situated on 18 acres of lush landscaping on the shores of Coffee Pot Bayou. Named by Spanish explorers, this picturesque inlet off Old Tampa Bay is surrounded by the finest neighborhoods in the area and close to major shop-ping centers and dining in Downtown St. Petersburg.
This choice water-front location has been owned and operated by the Grand Lodge of Florida since the early 1900’s and shares a century old tradi-tion with the City of St. Pe-tersburg. The Home was originally set aside for chil-dren slowly turning over to the needs of senior Masons and their wives/widows as aging demographics changed. A series of build-ing expansions beginning in 1973 brought us to the present 150,000 square foot Home which can accommodate up to 187 Residents in a state-of-the-art setting. There are gracious lobbies, an elegant dining room overlooking the grounds and water, a 5,000 volume library, billiards and activities rooms, gift shop, community kitchenettes and lounges, a chapel, waterside pavilion and fishing pier plus a host of other amenities which make the Masonic Home one of the premi-ere facilities of its kind in Pinellas County. Recently, the City of St. Petersburg presented The Masonic Home a Mayor's First Place Award for Building and Grounds Beautification.
