Extend yourself using the media of charcoal, pastel or paint as you learn to observe and interpret the model. The artist will teach you diff erent ways of thinking to express yourself creatively, with a strong emphasis on the play of light as a means of fi nding the essence of the pose. Learn about mosaic traditions, methods, materials, adhesives and substrates, as well as how to cut and lay tesserae, and fi nd out how to create andamento in your work. You will be shown how to create a mosaic for internal or external display on a 2D substrate using the tutor’s – or your own – inspired design. Explore the vast range of mark-making and unique textural variations of diff erent types of ground in copperplate etching. Learn to prepare and etch the plate, then over-print and layer multiple images. Combine Chine-collé, textured imagery and selective wiping with delicate hand-colouring to create intricate and richly toned prints.

Have fun exploring a range of subject matter and techniques with a focus on developing technical skills, learning to understand and use the elements of design while growing individual creativity. Young artists are exposed to various art materials and artforms, including drawing, painting, textiles, printmaking and ceramics. Activities can be observational and others more imaginative. We learn about artists and will be inspired by their works.

Learn how to make beautiful ceramic pieces using the pottery wheel. We will learn basic and advanced techniques in this friendly and fun class. You will have the opportunity to make functional ware (plates, cups and bowls) or more sculptural pieces. We will also be covering decorating and glazing techniques.

Enrolment Information

Payment may be made as follows:

• Due to popularity of courses, places cannot be held without payment.

• An enrolled student cannot have another individual attend a class in their absence.

• Students may only attend the day and time of the class they are enrolled in.

• Swapping of classes is not permitted.• Participants in the term courses, full day and

weekend workshops must be over 18 years of age.

• No children are to accompany an adult to classes.

• Courses without the minimum number of participants by one week before the start date of the course will be cancelled.

• Most courses require additional materials to be purchased by the student.

• A 20% administration fee applies to cancellations made prior to the beginning of term.

• No refund will be given once term has commenced.

• Classes are not held on public holidays.• Course start and fi nishing dates may vary due

to public holidays and availability of the course tutor.

• A full refund will only be given if a course is cancelled by the Tresillian Arts Centre.
