Trends in Microscopy 2018: Bridging the Worlds 12-15 March 2018 at Heinrich Heine University of Düsseldorf (HHU)
The conference series "Trends in Microscopy (TIM)" was initiated by DFG in
2005 and has since then taken place approximately every other year in
Freiburg, Ulm, Bonn, New York, Berlin, Braunschweig, Würzburg, Freiburg, and
Dresden. It addresses German and international researchers who work in the
field of light and electron microscopy on both, development of instruments and
methods as well as novel applications, and provides a company exhibition area.
TIM will be the bi-annual meeting of the newly founded "German BioImaging-
Gesellschaft für Mikroskopie und Bildanalyse e.V." (German BioImaging-Society
for Microscopy and Image Analysis, GerBI-GMB) and will be co-organized
together with a local partner. A discount on conference packages is applied to
corporate members of the society.

Events during the conference
The main events during the conference are the Welcome Reception on the first evening, Monday, 12th and the Speakers Dinner on Tuesday evening, 13th of March. We did not decide finally
for a location for the Speakers Dinner, but this will be done within the next weeks.
For the Welcome Reception on the first evening we plan to involve the companies at their individual booths: Please provide any kind of fluorescent material and gadgets as well as black light
to create a “fluorescent atmosphere” to make microscopists feel comfortable. Competition between companies is highly welcome! If you have questions or ideas concerning this event, please
contact us!
