Trend Pitch Analysis #1: Theme: Victorian Embellished Silverware Patterns and Attention to Silver Relevance: With the current skyrocketed prices of gold, a dampened economy, and the latest environmental mindset, a utilization of refurbished objects with attention to silver detail brings silverware accessories to the fashion spectrum. The recent urge to reinstate aged items, such as antique forks, spoons, knives, and even scrap silver has found its way into becoming bracelets, necklaces, and rings. Furthermore, recent royal and political figures have placed chic conservativeness back to existence. Designers with attention to silver and Victorian detail are Dries Van Noten, Vivienne Westwood, and J. Mendel. Direction: Silver plated dining sets are influencing society to reuse matured house wares, rather than purchase new accessories. An environmental motion to recycle and refurbish the old into new can be seen in the silver design. It channels a conservative and revisited Victorian era. From stenciled wall patterns to bed sheet designs, the same Victorian influence seen in silverware is present. Market:

Trend Pitch Analysis #1:

Theme:Victorian Embellished Silverware Patterns and Attention to Silver

Relevance:With the current skyrocketed prices of gold, a dampened economy, and the latest environmental mindset, a utilization of refurbished objects with attention to silver detail brings silverware accessories to the fashion spectrum. Mendel.

Direction:Silver plated dining sets are influencing society to reuse matured house wares, rather than purchase new accessories. An environmental motion to recycle and refurbish the old into new can be seen in the silver design. It channels a conservative and revisited Victorian era. From stenciled wall patterns to bed sheet designs, the same Victorian influence seen in silverware is present.

Market:Women aging from young fashion conscious college students to wise middle aged professionals will greet this trend warmly.

Key Items:Necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and rings.

Trend Pitch Analysis #2:

Theme:Top Hats: womenswear and menswear by political and pop cultural leaders.

Relevance:The F/W 12/13 shows ranging from Daks, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Ralph Lauren all held claim to the 18th century top hats. As this fall began a significant political time in the United States, we are reminded of past presidential and governmental fashions. This top hat makes a connection with Abraham Lincoln and the famed Uncle Sam of our past generations. Like history, we are in a time of war and debate as our predecessors were at the time they made this headwear known. It also transitions well after the recent year’s craze with hat culture since the royal wedding and summer wide brimmed hats.

Direction:The route that the top hat has taken leads to influence on suit trends and even womenswear by adding tuxedo detailing to feminine clothing. It has even been accompanied on the runway with an old-fashioned wooden cane and reference to the pop culture of Charlie Chaplin and the Three Stooges. As a hat whose height reaches far above the head, it breaks away from the short stack of previously famed hats, such as the fedora.

Market:A unisex audience of men and women from 25 to 35 seeking an urban sophisticated classic look.

Key Items:Top hats and suits.

Trend Pitch #3:

Theme:Ballet inspired organza tutus.

Relevance:Runway collections of Betsey Johnson, Christian Dior, Dries Van Noten, Givenchy, Jason Wu, and Marchesa have all been spotted sporting ballerina inspired tutus. In 2010 with the premiere of the successful film, The Black Swan, the heightened desire for the feminine designs of a dancer grew. As fashion has recently seen many looks of the classics, such as neutral tones and top hats, the timeless silhouette of a ballerina fits well.

Direction:These tutus are stemming from the original tutu silhouette, with its petite length and tautness to a multitude of dimensions. Many designers are overlaying sheer elongated tutus on top of another short skirt underneath. Some are beginning to evolve to the length of a ball gown that sweeps at the floor. Details in the form of ribbon trims or tiers of organza from waist down are prevalent.

Market:Women of the mainstream consumers from 18-24 years old.

Key Items:Tutus of short, mid-length, and floor length.
