Afteragoodnightssleepandaheartybreakfastweemergefromtherainforestandcontinueonanascendingpath,throughheathland,lookingforgiantlobeliasandgroundsels.Continueupintoopenmoorlandswheresmallshrubsarethemainvegetation.Stophalfwayforlunch,toenjoyamazingviewsofMawenzi.ArriveattheHoromboHutslateafternoonbeneaththespectacularKiboSummitviewpoint.Temperaturesbegintodrop.

YoucanspendafulldayandasecondnightatHorombo.Onthisday,youcaneitherrestatthehutsortakeastrolluptotheMawenzibasecampthenreturntotheHoromboHuts.Thisextradaywillhelpyouracclimatization,andfurtheryourunderstandingofthemountainsweatherandaltitude.Afteryourpause,youwillcontinueuptotheKiboHutsonyourfourthdayforyourmidnightstarttothesummit.

DAY4:HOROMBOHUTS-KIBOHUTS:10km/6mi|6-8hrs|SemiDesert
