Indian PacificAn epic continental journey traversing the Blue Mountains, Outback and Nullarbor Plain.

Joining the Indian and Pacific Oceans for over 40 years, this truly is one of the world's great train journeys.Named after the two great oceans it joins, and symbolised by the magnificent wedge-tailed eagle that so often soars above, the mighty Indian Pacific traverses 4352km between Perth and Sydney.

More than three million guests have already enjoyed this epic journey which spans a continent - travelling the whole distance over three days and three nights. Setting off from Perth, your train climbs through the scenic Avon Valley and into Western Australia's expansive wheat belt before arriving late evening at your first stop in the city of Kalgoorlie.

On the next day you'll discover the landscape taking on a richer hue as the journey moves through the mallee scrub into the ancient Nullarbor Plain, with its landscapes unmarked by the passing millennia.

Stepping off during a brief pause at Cook in the middle of the Nullarbor Plain, you will experience Australia's vast open spaces from a unique perspective.

Arriving in Adelaide the following morning you can either choose to break your journey for a few days touring this picturesque city, or continue directly on to Broken Hill with its countless tales of riches won and lost.

From here you'll travel through some of Australia's most productive farming country and in to the arid outback as the sun sets. The next morning is the finale to your journey through the spectacular Blue Mountains*.

Whether your final destination on the Indian Pacific is west to Perth or east to Sydney, you’ll have a selection of opportunities to leave the train and take in some of the region's highlights. With so many wonderful sights to enjoy, this isn’t just one of the longest train journeys in the world, but also one of the most memorable.

The OverlandAn easy way to travel over land.

There’s no more relaxing way to enjoy the trip between Adelaide and Melbourne than on The Overland, providing a comfortable way to travel between the cities. This historic train pioneered intercapital rail travel way back in 1887, its name inspired by the historic ‘Overlanders’ who travelled the route on horseback. A century on and a $4 million refurbishment later, todays train-travelling ‘Overlanders’ enjoy the journey in relaxing comfort arriving at their destination in the early evening.

Throughout this interstate journey, guests can soak up a diverse range of landscapes from rugged mallee scrubland, to fields of golden crops, over vast open plains and through gently rolling hills.

The Overland passes through classic Australian country towns including Murray Bridge, Bordertown, Dimboola, Horsham, Ararat and Geelong. The journey

is a wonderful opportunity to relax in comfort, mingle with fellow travellers and delight in the ever changing countryside along the way.

The Overland runs a daylight service between Adelaide and Melbourne in both directions, three times a week. Guests also have the opportunity to disembark from the train to explore the many regions and towns The Overland passes through along its route. These guests simply re-join The Overland on a scheduled service that suits their holiday timetable.

Onboard, The Overland guests have the choice of two levels of service; Red Premium Service and Red Service.

Our Red Premium Service offers extra space and more comfort, with reclining seats that offer even more leg room than business class airline seats. Two abreast to one side and a single seat across the aisle, the seats swivel to face each other if you want to socialise with your travelling companions.

The Overland

11

While our Red Service offers comfortable reclining seats with good personal space. Two seats on either side of the aisle, with 60 seats per carriage

Both Service levels allow easy access to the licensed Café Carriage, just a short stroll away for meals or drinks – including espresso coffee – and if you don’t want to leave your seat, enjoy an a la carte meal, snack or drink from our catering trolley.

The Overland links Adelaide with two of Australia’s great trains; the Indian Pacific which traverses this huge continent between Sydney and Perth, via Adelaide, and The Ghan, travelling between Adelaide and Darwin, via Alice Springs. It means The Overland opens up exciting train travel all over Australia from Adelaide.

Travelling between Adelaide and Melbourne by rail is now a more comfortable, relaxing and unique experience complete with mesmerising views and the ability to move about the train as you wish.

While many of our guests use The Overland as a great way to travel between Adelaide and Melbourne in comfort, without the stress of bus or air travel, The Overland also makes an ideal start (or end) to a unique holiday package based around either city.

Red Service DinerIf you’re in Red Service you have access to our Red Service Diner. This is a great place to take in the ever-changing view from the panoramic windows, or perhaps enjoy a drink or two while socialising with friends, new or old.

You can purchase affordable, tasty light meals, snacks and drinks from the fully licensed Diner.

Red Gum LoungeRed Service guests will enjoy more space to relax, socialise and move around whilst on their journey. Fitted with comfortable lounge chairs and booth seating, the Red Gum Lounge provides the perfect place to enjoy the panoramic window views, meet new friends, or spend a leisurely afternoon with a good book.

Access to the Red Gum Lounge is included in the ticket price for Red Sleeper guests, while those travelling in Red Service Day/Nighter Seats will pay a daily fee of $10 to $15 to use the facility.

Red Service Sleeper CabinFor affordable comfort, our air-conditioned twin share Red Service Sleeper Cabins have two facing lounge chairs that easily convert to snug upper and lower

sleeping berths at night. Your twin berth sleeper has a wash basin, while showers and toilets are located nearby at the end of each carriage. If you’d like a drink, a snack or simply a change of scenery and the chance to stretch your legs, you have full access to the Red Service Diner.

You can take in the views or relax with a drink and a meal in the Red Service Diner.

To make the most of the space available, there’s plenty of room for your hand luggage in the overhead racks.

LuggageAs ‘checked-in’ luggage* cannot be accessed during the journey, we advise our guests to bring an ‘overnight bag,’ containing everything you need for the journey.

b. bij annulering vanaf de 60e dag (inclusief) tot de 7e dag (exclusief) vóór de vertrekdag: 50% van de reissom;
