it’s pLaytimeLooks like the kids are getting ready to play their all time favorite game- tag. Playtime, for these kids, is what makes their childhood so special. During this time, they tend to discover new aspects of life. At playtime they also tumble across people who become an indispensible part of their world, their friends. It is also these memories that enable them to go through the rough patches of their lives.

animal. He loves meeting new people.

profiLe of maLDives Maldives is an island in the Indian Ocean-Arabian Sea area and has a double chain of twenty-six coral reefs.

The islands of Maldives are a beautiful country surrounded by the ocean, trees and the beautiful blue-sky above. It truly is a magical place and will give you peace and pleasure when you visit.

It is mainly a nation that is all about tourism. There are over 1,200 coral islands surrounding Maldives that attract snorkelers, swimmers and adventurers of all kinds.

The economy of Maldives also depends on fish processing, coconut processing, growing sweet potatoes and corn, shipping and boat building as well as exporting clothing.

The languages that are spoken in Maldives are: Maldivian Dhivehi (tongue of Sinhala) as well as English.

The currency that is used in the country is Rufiyaa.

The main religion that is followed in Maldives is Islam. Maldive’s capital city is called Male (pronounced Maley). The cultural groups that are mostly found in Maldives are South Indians, Sinhalese and Arabs.

Interestingly, the Maldives is the flattest country in the world. People there seem too happy enjoying the natural beauty of Maldives.

skipping fairies on tHe runAllison and Stacy come up with a catchy new single called “Skip Rope.” You have got to agree that they are just as talented as Willow Smith with their new song. But hopefully with their skills they will blow the world away soon. “Skip Rope” is a unique blend of R&B and has some characteristics of the new moulded genre trip hop. All in it’ is a song that you can listen to in the car or at home when you’re studying. This song was produced by the same producer who produced “Friday” by Rebecca Black. Now you know where true quality really comes from.

Heroes in tHe skyWhen world famous air racer learns that he may never be able to race again, due to damages to his engine, he joins the heroic world of firefighting in mid-air. Dusty joins energetic super scooper Dipper, heavy lift helicopter Windlifter, ex-military car Cabbie and a lively bunch of cars known as the Smokejumpers with all of their leader being the strong and brave helicopter Blade Ranger. Together, the team of fearless firefighters faces many challenges where they put out fires and save the day all the time in a fun way. Dusty finally realises that it means more to be a firefighter than it ever meant to be a racer and that true heroism lies in being a firefighter who saves lives. He no longer misses his wonderful racing days and becomes used to to being a proud firefighter.

The Bodu Beru Bodu Beru means big drum, it is a reminder of Maldives’ long relationship with East Africa a few centuries ago. The drum based traditional music of Bodu Beru is very rhythmic and is considered very spiritual.

Maldives CoinsCowry shells can be found in millions in Maldives. They were used as money during medieval times. This is one of the many reasons why nowadays shells commonly adorn Maldivian coins.

Coral Houses Maldivians used to build their houses in coral reefs. This traditional housing system is now prohibited because coral reefs are protected worldwide. But many coral reef houses can still be spotted in Male and other local islands.

Maldives Whale SharksThe world’s biggest fish have their official sanctuaries in Maldives. The Maldives are one of the few places in the world where whale sharks are encountered all year long.

The coconut treeThe coconut tree is one of the major symbols of Maldives. The coconut tree is also the national tree of Maldives, and can grow up to thirty meters and reach the age of one hundred years. Their shade is used to protect the natural beaches, tourists can often lie under the shade of the trees to get some protection from the sun. The wood of the trees are used to make dhonis (long boats used on the sea).

The Maldivian FlagThe colour red stands for blood shed for their fights for independence and justice. The white crescent stands for Islam and the colour green stands for peace and for their national coconut trees.

World record of the lowest countryMaldives owns the record of the lowest country in the world,

coming up to an average of 1.5 meters above sea level.

Origins Maldives is likely to be originated from a chain of volcanoes formed around 60 million years ago. Recent studies show that coral reefs have formed over hundreds of thousands of years ago on their sinking remains.

As Maldives is generally an Islamic country, the clothing adorned by the general public is traditionally Islamic in style. The women wear the Dhivehi libaas that has gold or silver embroidery around the necklines. The gold and silver embroidery also has a special name called ‘kasabu viyun’ which is usually very difficult to get a hold of since it’s very desirable. Modern embroidery and intricate sewing by hand is also done onto the fabric. They also use machinery.

Dr Meow is a genius doctor and scientist who lives in the Treehouse.

Mas HuniThis dish is made of tuna, onions, coconut and chili. All these are finely chopped while the onions are finely cut along with the chilies. The coconut is cut into tiny pieces well and all the remaining parts are added to the coconut. The parts are mixed well and then served on flat bread, usually pita bread or a roti, with sweet hot tea on the side.

RihaakuruThis is a fish paste made with tuna and jaggery. The fish head, bones and the meat are boiled for hours until the soup turns into foam and then into a gel. Sugar and salt is then added to the mixture to add taste. After the mixture turns into a thick paste, you have your tasty rihaakuru ready to eat. This dish is spread like jam on bread, or eaten with rice. Pragya rahMan

Men wear the Saarong, which is much like a skirt that is worn like pants. On top, men can wear anything like a shirt or a much broader, more traditional shirt. Saarongs compared to the western world are quite similar to kilts but are slightly longer and cover your entire legs.

In the 12th century, a tribe of Native Americans, known as the Incas, moved down from the Andes mountains in South America to settle in the fertile Cuzco valley. By the end of 15th they had conquered a huge territory of which is almost the size of Peru containing more than 10 million people. Machu Picchu was built at the height of the Inca Empire around 1450. It was abandoned a century later in 1572 after the Spanish conquest.

Covering an area of 13 sq km, the fortress city of Machu Picchu was built on a series of terraces carved into the side of a granite mountain more than 2280m above the sea level. The city was home to a population of five hundred thousand people. The Incas were experts at using a building technique called ashlar in which blocks of stone are cut precisely so that they fit together tightly without mortar. Mortar-free walls, Trapezoidal, tilted inward and round corner doors and

windows helped protect many of the buildings from collapsing from earthquakes. The semi-circular Temple of the Sun, the Temple of the Three Windows, the mausoleum and the upper cemetery are few of Machu Picchu’s impressive architectural works.

The Machu Picchu was divided between an urban area and an agricultural area. With an upper town area where royalty lived and temples were built. The lower town area included workers quarters and warehouses. The Incas were experts at farming every available piece of fertile land in their mountainous empire. They built terraces along the steep hillsides and watered them with mountain streams so that crops could be grown. Machu Picchu had access to springs for water and plenty of terraced and irrigated land to grow food for four times more then the number of people who lived there. ehsan sunny
