Battle of Caporetto

● The attack on Italy was delayed for two days because of bad weather

● On October 24, 1917 when the Central Powers started their attack on Italy, they smothered the valley with poisonous gas. Luckily the Italian soldiers had gas masks, but that would only protect them from the gas for two hours or less. So all the soldiers fled and 500-600 soldiers were still killed...

Then later on that night they attacked the Italian side again and peppered them with mortar fire. The Central Powers didn’t stop there. After that they opened fire on the Italians with 2200 pieces of artillery and detonated two large mines under the Italians strong points bordering the valley. And the Central Powers gained access into the Italian side.
