Invite your family and friends
to share Easter with us in the
Parish of
Taree
The Psalmist sets the scene for us as we begin Holy Week: ‘I am a thing of
horror to my friends: and those that see me in the street shrink from me. I
am forgotten like one dead and out of mind: I have become like a broken
vessel. For I hear the whispering of many: and fear is on every side; while
they plot together against me: and scheme to take away my life’.
Pray that you may stay close to Jesus this week, and not resile from
difficult or unpopular choices when you have to make them.

PRIESTS PONDERINGS…....
On Maundy Thursday following our service we will be having,
'A Watch' from 8.30 pm to midnight. This practice offers an opportunity
for you to share in Christ’s struggle and preparation for what is coming.
As Jesus prayed in the garden called Gethsemane shortly before his arrest,
he asked his disciples to keep vigil with him, to keep awake and support him
in his hour of need. True to the nature of our humanity Peter, James and John
went to sleep.
In the centuries since, Christian disciples around the world have marked this
night by staying awake, watching and praying with Jesus in the hours leading
up to his crucifixion and death.
They went to a place called Gethsemane; and Jesus said to his disciples,
“Sit here while I pray.” He took with him Peter and James and John, and
began to be distressed and agitated. And he said to them, “I am deeply
grieved, even to death; remain here, and keep awake.” Mark 14:32-34
Many people find great value in taking this time for personal prayer and
reflection and I encourage you to join us, to sacrifice your time and your
comfort to grow in your faith. The roster is available at the back of the church.
May Holy week bring you a deeper understanding of Christ’s Passion and
death.
Blessings
Fr Peter

SEASON OF THE SPIRITS: LOVE ARRIVING This day marks the beginning of the week when we tell the story that is central to our faith. It begins with Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem, and continues with his arrest, trial, and death. Next comes resurrection. How might we experience these events differently as we wonder what the soundtrack of the parade sounded like as those in it possible sang Psalm 118?
