Finding the best ticket for you will depend on whether you’re at sixth form, college or university, and what type of transport you use. The information on the following pages is divided by age group, and by what kind of transport you’re using.

So whether you’re in a sixth form, at college or at university, this guide will help you save money so you’ve more to spend on other things. And of course these student passes aren’t just valid for getting to and from college. You can you use them at any time – to get to nights out, a part-time job, go shopping –whatever you want.

Stagecoach Under 19 VIP Ticket

Be a Very Independent Person with an Under 19 VIP ticket. It’s for young people aged 18 and under in full-time education and is valid on all Stagecoach services in Tyne and Wear and in and out of Northumberland. You’ll need a Stagecoach VIP ID Card or Nexus Under 16 Pop Card to buy one. You can buy daily and weekly tickets from the bus driver, or buy a monthly ticket at buymyvip.com.

Go North East Get Around

Sixth form or college students aged 16-18

School bus service flat fare

If you’re 16 or over and travelling on a dedicated school bus service (eg to sixth form) you can now travel for a flat fare of 90p.

All zone passes valid on Metro, the Shields Ferry and local rail* are available for one week or four weeks to all 16-18 years olds (you don’t have to be a student).
