UC Policy on Sustainable Practices
» Using the time period 2004-2005 as a baseline, campuses will strive to increase the percentage of low (PZEV) or zero-emission vehicles (ZEV) by 50% by the year 2009-2010, or to increase the number of PZEV and ZEV vehicles by 20% by the year 2009-2010, whichever is more feasible, and/or to convert campus vehicles to 50% non-carbon based fuel by year 2009-2010.
UCSB Transportation service’sFleet Purchasing Policy
» UCSB is committed to reducing the campus’ overall energy consumption, reliance on foreign fuel and overall environmental impact.
» Transportation Services will assist the campus in achieving these reductions by purchasing alternative fuel* or ultra efficient** vehicles. If such an option does not exist for the appropriate vehicle, Transportation Services will perform the necessary research to purchase a vehicle with the smallest ecological footprint available.
» Transportation Services will educate the campus about new fuel technology, and require all campus departments to purchase alternative fuel or cleanest available technology vehicles that meet their needs.
