Dangerous goods require a complete shipping description:

– Identification number – Shipping name– Hazard class– Packing group

Requirements

The following must be visible– Identification number with prefix – Shipping name (with technical name, if required)– Hazard label(s) as required:– Package specification mark, and– complete name and address of shipper and consignee

Documentation Shipper's declaration must be supplied:– 2 copies for the air carrier (operator)– 1 copy for the ground carrier– copy must be kept by shipper and carrier for 2 yearsany supporting documents (if required):– emergency information required for the USA (USG-

12)– state approval for cases listed in DGR 8.3– non-dangerous goods statementan air waybill

Complete the required declaration for an air shipment.Note: This material is not a hazardous substance in the US. No ERAP requirements for Canada.

Ground transport must be according to national regulations.– see attached fold-out chart for details:

• Canada• United States

– further training can be obtained:• in Canada; CLR 10, 11 or 12 courses• in the US; HMT 10 or 11 courses

Segregation must be according to table 9.3A:– primary and subsidiary risks– table also applies to different dangerous goods inside the

same package

Emergency situations may require reporting to national agencies:– TDG 8.1-2– 49CFR 171.15-21– Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG)

may be used for emergency measures

Excepted Quantities

Very small quantities may be exempted if: – permitted on passenger aircraft– quantities meet Table 2.6A– they are identified by a label set out in Figure 2.6B– notified on the Air Waybill – packaging meets section 2.6.6– segregation inside package meets section 9.3

Limited Quantities

Exempted from UN specification packaging if:– permitted on passenger aircraft– quantity limitations are met:

• in column H and packing instructions• maximum gross weight of package is 30 kg

– packaged as specified in 2.7

All other requirements must be met:– marking and labelling– documentation– segregation
