Music is a powerful thing
We believe in the power of music; a power that encourages and nurtures talent; a power that builds confidence and self-esteem; a power that opens new horizons and helps individuals express who they are.
Who are we?
Youth Music is one of the National Lottery's great success stories – a charity established in 1999 with a remit to support music-making activities for some of the UK`s most disadvantaged young people.
Our approach
•Listening to young people•Learning from experience•Making the case•Focusing our activity•Developing resources•Raising funds and targeting funding
Our 4 goals (2010 – 2015)
• Early Years
• Challenging Circumstances
• Encouraging talent or potential
• Workforce development
Early Years
We want to advance the learning and development of children in their early years (0-5s), by aiming to ensure universal access (in England) to high quality music making activities across a range of settings
Challenging circumstances
We want to improve the life chances of children and young people in the most challenging circumstances by supporting them to achieve their full potential through engagement and progression in music-making.
Encouraging talent
and potential
We want to realise the musical talent and potential of children and young people by ensuring opportunity for all to develop their talent regardless of background or chosen genre.
