That gave us two styles of productions for the students. The Mime was the one with a clear faith presentation. Yet, the Dinner Theaters have always had a message of hope, which I believe is a faith message. Whether it is the notion of love overcoming conflict in the westerns we have done or the message of justice in the private eye and Robin Hood productions, they have all been, what I like to call, redemptive stories. This year’s “sci-fi-fantasy” has been written with children in mind, but also giving adults some laughs only they may get. This one tells the story of our characters learning about who they are in an odd world. But we can’t say much more without giving away the story. Next weekend, March 3 – 5, WAY Student

Ministries presents the Dinner Theater “A Space

Oddity.” For eleven years the student ministries has been

doing Dinner Theaters, this being our 8th production.

These productions have been good fundraising events for

the students. But even more importantly, they have been a

place for students to explore their talents and share them

with the congregation, family and friends as well as provide

a great time of fellowship.

Each script is crafted around the students who make the big

commitment of “being in the show.” The students work for

two months on preparing the production, along with a

fantastic group of adults who give much of their creative

time and energy to make the show a great experience.

Some have asked me why we don’t have a clear religious

message. When Jamie was on staff we had moved to

doing the Wordless Gospel every other year in rotation with

the Dinner Theater. That gave us two styles of productions

for the students. The Mime was the one with a clear faith

presentation. Yet, the Dinner Theaters have always had a

message of hope, which I believe is a faith message.

Whether it is the notion of love overcoming conflict in the

westerns we have done or the message of justice in the

private eye and Robin Hood productions, they have all

been, what I like to call, redemptive stories.

This year’s “sci-fi-fantasy” has been written with

children in mind, but also giving adults some

laughs only they may get. This one tells the story of our

characters learning about who they are in an odd world.

But we can’t say much more without giving away the story.

Cast and crew, chefs and servers all hope this will be a

good time of fellowship for all.
