The Associate of Arts in General Studies degree (AAGS) provides the student with the credentials to begin an entry-level position in a variety of professional fields or to transfer credits to a bachelor’s degree program of their choice. These students are given the freedom to take courses from a variety of fields while still receiving a thorough grounding in the Liberal Arts and Sciences including mathematics, natural sciences, history, writing, social sciences, philosophy, literature, art and oral communication. The Associate of General Studies degree requires the student to fulfill 60 college credit hours with specific credits from each of Shawnee State University's general education categories.
The Bachelor of Science in Health Science (BSHS) provides a natural baccalaureate degree pathway for
many health-related careers. The degree requirements are flexible in order to allow opportunities for
entrance and advancement in a wide variety of health-related fields. The BSHS opens doors to a
multitude of careers or enables students to continue their education by pursuing a graduate program.

skills for a specific career goal. As a flexible degree, the BIS can be tailored to the needs of a variety of
professional fields. The BIS is particularly useful for:

Students seeking to combine aspects of two or more programs
Students seeking a bachelor degree for career advancement
