Novartis Seminar

Passionately saving, prolonging, and improving animal lives.Novartis focuses on the well-being of companion animals and the health and productivity of farm animals. Their extensive product range provides solutions for the prevention and treatment of various widespread animal diseases and parasite infestations. The majority of these products are available by prescription through veterinarians. A very successful Seminar was held at Tramonto to promote products and educate various veterinarians in the area. Column on Occasions with Alwijn Burger

In our last column we asked the question: what are weddings and events truly about?

In our quest for an answer we have come across several equally valid answers. Today, however, without the least bit of selfish guilt, my answer to the question is: you. Weddings and events, when hosted by you are … all about you!

Now before you start sticking signed copies of a not-so-recent-photo of yourself onto your party invites, allow me to validate my answer. Crucial and often forgotten ingredients in the event planning recipe is personality, soul and character. These are the small bits of detail that hint on your unique style and preferences throughout an event. A very useful tool in assisting and reminding us of our tastes and fancies is the now very popular ‘mood board’- also referred to as an ‘ideas-file, an ‘inspiration-easel’ or simply ‘the-bride’s-bible’ (seeexample below).

Page 3: Tramonto news august 2010

Some tips on how to compile your own mood board:

Limit your theme inspiration to one central item such as a dress, your engagement ring, your favourite colour, etc. Gather and build your ideas around this strong element.

Make sure to include things of sentimental value to you – these are usually the little touches that make your day unique (grandpa’s vintage car, auntie Alta’s aarbei-tert and so on).

Consider all areas of the event – fashion, food, favours, stationery, venues .

Remember to involve your co-host (groom). He is, or is soon-to-be, the other half of you.

No matter how simple or concise a mood board is a very handy visual reflection to guide service-providers such as dress-designers, florists, caterers and even co-coordinators in the right direction. Your aim upon completion of your unique wedding/event mood board should be to find service providers capable of bringing your vision to life. But that, my dear, is a topic in its own right (see next month’scolumn).

Enjoy boogie boarding through the Internet, shredding magazines and making collages to your heart’s content. This mood board is on you!

Be Inspired by Paul Fourie Videography..

So let’s talk about what makes a wedding DVD special and unique. The first thing that you as a wedding couple should agree on is the purpose it must fulfil. Let’s remember that it is a reminder of a wonderful day and of the friends and relatives who joined in thecelebration. Your videographer of choice has the duty and responsibility to identify your specific approach to your wedding day; he should spend time getting prepared, capture key moments and ensure good audio where needed and be able to offer you different package options to suit your needs and budget.

So what are the benefits of adding video to your archive of captured memories?

Well, firstly you will see all the detail you missed during the overwhelming excitement of the day, making it possible to relive the special day again and again.

Video captures the motion and beauty of subtle facial expressions as well as all the action as only video can. You will hear the toasts, the cheers, the applause and the laughter exactly as it happened. You’ll be able to see the way your dress moved on the dance floor, hugs

and kisses from grandma, the joyful response of guests and much more, not to mention its value for posterity. Imagine 10, 20 years from now, sitting down with your children, and later even grandchildren, and reliving that special day, sharing it with them on DVD. This is where photographs, unfortunately don’t give the same value. So if you’re still not sure if you need to have your wedding professionally videotaped why not be on the safe side and just do it.   Your wedding is one of the biggest days of your life. Enjoy every exciting minute of planning your wedding!

Hanri & Theo Bezuidenhout

“I met Theo at the end of 2005 at the gym. We greeted talked and for more than a year bumped into each other on the odd social occasion. He played rugby at the time and was very focused on his game and I made an oath years ago never to date a rugby player. Well … Our physiotherapist had his own agenda and started setting up our appointments in such a way that our ‘odd bumping into one another’ became more frequent. In March 2007 I received an anonymous sms but did not answer - mom’s orders not to speak to strangers! Eventually Theo gave in and a decent first date was set.

We went to the very romantic Old Town House for a lovely dinner and, as they say, the rest is history! This rugby player tackled me so hard I’m yet to recover. He is my gentle giant, he makes me laugh until my tummy hurts, we can talk forever about anything and we can be quiet and content without feeling weird! He calms me down, makes me feel safe and supports me in everything I do. I married my hero!

When he proposed on a sunset helicopter trip over the magical Knysna Heads, I could not believe how blessed one girl can be. I was so happy and excited and thought that life could not get any better. But this was just the beginning!

Appart from having the best man, I have the most amazing friends. We are all like one big family away from our homes. Some of thesevery special people run this immaculate place called Tramonto. Remember I said that I am the most blessed person… I told you so!!! There is not enough space on the whole internet to describe how amazing the team at Tramonto was. I did not have to do or worry about anything. Wilma organized everything and made sure that I had the most beautiful dress from her Lady Marmalaide collection, she helped me stay within my budget with her great ideas and never ending support. Maryke made us the most beautiful and delicious wedding cake and helped with everything else. Aunt Sukie’s flower arrangements and décor were breathtaking and done with so much love and perfection it left us speechless and eternally grateful. Frikkie ran around, set up all the décor and captured every moment of our beautiful day on his camera. Our photos are stunning! The little horse carriage was such a hit and very cute, luckily uncle Pieter was there to steer them and make the experience very special for the bridal party. Marina spoiled me rotten on our wedding day and made our honeymoon night very special with all the treats from Tramonto. Marelize had the very difficult job of making me look like a princess, and the final result exceeded all expectations, she did a stunning job and made me feel super special!!

Our wedding day was perfect. Theo and I still talk about how blessed and loved we felt during the whole process of organizing ourwedding and on our wedding day. Everything was done with so much professionalism, care and most of all, love. It exceeded our greatestexpectations, it is impossible to thank everyone enough!! As I page through my awesome album, I dry my eyes. I miss you all so much and I am so grateful to God, He has really blessed our amazing journey.”
