STRATEGIC PLAN 2019-2025
MISSION: To undertake the prospecting, exploration and assessment
of mineral resources used in the nuclear field. (Law No 24.804, Article 2,
Subsection k).
VISION: To ensure the necessary uranium resources to meet the national
requirements within a framework of sustainable development.
S.O.1:- To increase the Reasonably Ensured Resources, which intend to supply
national uranium for existing nuclear power plants and those planned to be built.
S.O.2:- To increase Inferred Resources in exploration areas.
S.O.3:- To increase knowledge in the geological uranium potential of Argentina and
define new prospecting areas of interest to the nuclear field.
S.O.4:- To establish a transparent and participative communication system with
the community in accordance with CNEA communication policy.

ABOUT CURRENT EXPLORATION ACTIVITIES
RAW MATERIAL EXPLORATION MANAGEMENT
Besides the Provincial Mining Companies (Chubut, La
Rioja, Santa Cruz), Senior Producers and Junior
Companies, CNEA is carrying out uranium exploration
activities in 55 areas located throughout the country.
Among them, according to the degree of knowledge
about each area under study, we can recognize nine (9)
uranium deposits and nineteen (19) Manifestations of
Discovery.
In the remaining 27 areas, several exploration activities
are being developed in order to define their uraniferous
potentialities.

DON OTTO Sandstone Type Uranium Deposits (mined since 1963 to 1981), Salta province: The
mineralization is hosted within marine-continental sediments assigned to Yacoraite formation of
Cretaceous age.
In the north of the orebody are being develops an exploration plan by CNEA with the objective to
add new resources to remainder one of the old exploitation. Main works include geochemical and
geophysical surveys (Telluric Magnetic and Geoelectrical), a strategic net of deep drilling, and a
exhaustive structural study.
MINA FRANCA , Granite Related-Subtype Perigranitic Uranium Deposit, Catamarca Province:
Located in the geological province of Sierras Pampeanas, the mineralization is
associated to Precambrian metamorphic basement close to the contact with the Los
Ratones Carboniferous granite.
As surface studies are almost finished, it is expected to move forward with the
implementation of geophysical techniques and a drilling program aimed at acquiring
knowledge about the behavior of mineralization at depth.

ALIPAN I, Granite Related-Subtype Perigranitic Uranium Deposit, La Rioja Province:
Into geological province of Sierras Pampeanas, the mineralization zone was
recognized in the east slope of Velasco Hill. It is related to metamorphic rocks
of La Cebila Formation dated Cambric – Ordovician age, closely to the contact
with the Huaco granite Devonian – Carboniferous age.
The continuity of exploration work includes a drilling net of 4500 meters supported by
ground geophysical and geochemical surveys to follow-up subsurface extensions of the
tectonic structures and geologic formations hosting the uranium mineralization ocurrences.

TRES NIDOS, Sandstone Type Uranium Deposits. Río Negro Province.
Through information from oil drilling, geochemical and geophysical prospecting and
drilling, we are exploring sedimentary sequences of the northeastern edge of the
Neuquina Basin in search of Sandstone Type Uranium Deposits - Subtype Roll Front.
CERRO SOLO, Sandstone Uranium Type Deposits, Chubut Province.
The mineralization with lenticular morphology is related to fluvial sediments assigned
to Arroyo del Pajarito Member of the Los Adobes Formation Cretaceous age.
In the last three years the CNEA is carrying out the following activities:
In relation with main mineralized “C and B” ore body, a prefeasibility study is in course .
Hydrometallurgical tests in a scale lab were done.
The Social and Environmental Baseline Study is practically finished
