BSA Officer TrainingOne of the most serious responsibilities entrusted to your credit union is finding and combating financial crime and terrorist financing - it’s also required under the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), one of the most important pieces of credit union legislation. As BSA related crimes continue to evolve, it’s extremely important for you to keep up with these new forms of illicit trafficking and money laundering to stay compliant and protect your members. By attending this training session, BSA Officers and others responsible for Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering (BSA/AML) compliance will learn the latest revisions to its official policy and implementation, address the topics of marijuana, hemp businesses, and cyber security as well as discuss current best practices for keeping your credit union’s anti-fraud and anti-money laundering (AML) efforts in full compliance.

If you are new to BSA, or just want to reassure yourself that you’ve got everything covered, the program also addresses the duties and responsibilities of being responsible for the overall program at the credit union. FAQs with answers about common and not-so-common issues related to the filing of reports, investigations, timing, recordkeeping etc. will also be addressed.

Special Session! As part of the one-day BSA Officer Training, the IRS Criminal Investigation Office will present insightful information on Conducting & Documenting a SARs Investigation.

Director Training: Changes to ALLL and CECLIt’s essential that all leaders at credit unions understand the financials of the credit union, and how they work. Part of that means knowing how the Allowance for Loan and Lease Losses (ALLL) works, and another is knowing how capital works. At this meeting, we’ll cover important points and upcoming changes to both topics.

• How the ALLL is calculated will change at the start of 2022 due to something known as CECL--current expected credit loss. We’ll discuss CECL and its requirements, and how it may affect your credit union.

• We’ll also review how capital works and why it’s important, and discuss NCUA’s risk-based capital rule, which is slated to enter effect in 2020, but may be pushed off to 2021.
