The Valenciaport Foundation manages, on behalf of the Port Authority ofValencia (APV) and in collaboration with the Postgraduate and ContinuousTraining Institute of the Comillas Pontifical University of Madrid, an ambitiousprogramme of postgraduate university training targeted at managers and recentgraduates. Key topics covered by this programme include business management,trade, logistics, ports and transport. This programme has been on offer since1992 and comprises the following courses:

TEACHING STAFF
The teaching staff of the IPEC-Training department is formed by
more than 250 professionals coming from universities, private
companies linked to the port community and/or other sectors,
public administrative bodies, institutions and foundations as well
as port authorities.

TEACHING METHOD
All programmes uses teaching methods in which the teacher
combined theoretical presentations with student participation,
individual or team, and resolution of case studies, exercises or
work which demonstrates the use and assimilation problems
analyzed in order to accustom the future management schemes
to discussion and group work.
The academic program is complemented by special sessions,
conferences, seminars and visits to port facilities in order to
contribute to the professional and personal development of the
student.

VET.PORT. Erasums + project which fostered the recognizing of skills for port workers according to the ECVET
system, developing innovation in the maritime and logistics field. Four countries - Italy, Spain, Ireland, The
Nederland – researched the minimum standards of skills for 3 most common professional profiles in the ports:
• Terminal Port Manager
• Planning supervisor
• Driver of articulated vehicles
As a result of this research 9 programmes were developed (3 for each profile) and 79 workers were involved

OBJETIVE: identify the future trends in transport to assess the impact that
they can have on employability, as well as to identify the requirements and
characteristics of future training schemes for transport sector professionals.

Sweden, Finland, Germany, Austria, Poland, Switzerland, Slovakia,

• The backing of 25 years of experience and accumulated know-how of providingtraining at all levels (technical, executives, middle managers and staff) onspecific technical knowledge matters as well with regards to genericcompetences.
• The department provides training to the staff of Port Authorities,Governments and others Public Institutions as well as to the staff ofboth Spanish and international private companies.
• The designing of tailor-made training programmes based on the definition ofspecific job descriptions and their adaptation to each company.
• A tested evaluation process of profiles that identifies the best profiles foreach designed programme so as to ensure the homogeneity of groups. Thishelps decision-making to bring to light the activities of each programme.

• A dynamic and innovative methodology combining theoretical notions withpractical analysis.
• Joint work with the sector. AULA PORTUARIA is a stable working groupcomprising professionals and associations of the sector that works toidentify the training needs of port-maritime professionals whilst serving asthe first channel of communication.
• Expert and qualified teaching staff: The teaching staff consists of specialistsin the domain, university professors and professionals from the sector.Training programmes always count on the participation of an expert in thefield in question who works and designs the full training programmetogether with the managers of training. This serves as the base for the restof the contents of the course or programme to be given by selectedprofessionals.
