We bring the experts to youIn my role as Head of Centre Training I have developed this prospectus to provide an invaluable opportunity for you to access training for CPD or qualifications, at a time and place to suit you and your team.

We have a team of specialist educators, who are acknowledged as experts in their field. They will deliver training in new skills, techniques and technologies, which have been designed especially for VTCT tutors. The aim of the training is to enhance knowledge, skills and qualifications for you to pass on to your learners or to enable you to expand the range of VTCT courses you can offer.

Courses in this prospectus include:

• Training leading to VTCT qualifications in new techniques and technologies

• Training to support new centres and business practice

• Training to meet mandatory awarding organisation or legislative requirements

The CPD courses within the prospectus can be delivered at your own centre and tailored to meet your needs. After your initial enquiry, the specialist educator will contact you to arrange a convenient date and venue for the training to take place - ideal for in-service days. Delegates will receive a VTCT CPD certificate for the designated number of hours.

In addition, there are also opportunities to train for specific qualifications at VTCT’s head office in Eastleigh, Hampshire e.g. training to become an assessor, internal verifier or lead internal verifier. Please refer to the events page of our website for these courses and dates.

Who the course is for VTCT Beauty Therapy lecturers and learners

Entry requirements Learners must hold a basic waxing qualification – NVQ level 2 or equivalent, and have experience in bikini waxing. It is also recommended, but not essential that students become familiar with hot wax prior to the day.

Course overview Cutting using different barbering techniques on a Ken Head. Course delivered by Dinah Pickering, VTCT Thai and Spa expert

Author of the VTCT Thai Massage qualification and with over 20 years industry experience, qualified Cert Ed lecturer, assessor and IV, Dinah lived and worked in Asia for six years as a Spa Consultant and Trainer. Dinah wrote the qualification with longevity in mind developing this skill within the UK ensuring safe and capable movements for the western therapist, her training reflects this and to date all delegates have given excellent feedback.



A practical guide to employment law and practice in salons and spas

Course overview The course will take you through good practice in employing staff. There will be real examples of where salons have got it right and wrong. The focus will be on what employers can do as much as what they can’t do. We will cover recruitment and selection, employment contracts, salon handbooks as well as handling disciplinary situations. There will be a summary of employees rights and finally a review of the many changes introduced in 2015 by the Government e.g. fees to use employment tribunals.

With over 30 year's experience in HR, David will provide an interesting but also a practical and entertaining day. David looks after salons in major chains, many award winning salons and also the typical high street salons as they all face the same issues with staff.

Course overview The course involves initial training over 2 days during which the qualification will be explained in detail. You will explore how the evidence for your Assessor qualification will be collected and presented. Following the training you will work independently to gather the evidence required. There will be tutor support and follow up assessment.

Course duration Two initial days training followed by up to a maximum of three months to gather evidence, complete the assessments and present your e-portfolio of assessment.

Who the course is for The course is for educators at new or existing VTCT centres. This course is for you if you need to become a qualified Assessor in order to assess NVQ and/or VRQ qualifications.

Entry requirements • In order begin working towards becoming an assessor you must:

• Hold either Level 2 and Level 3 NVQ or VRQ qualifications or equivalent, plus sufficient relevant industrial experience that is current and appropriate to the unit(s) of the NVQ or VRQ you are intending to assess.

OR

• Have substantial industrial experience that is current and appropriate to the unit(s) of NVQ or VRQ you are intending to assess


The course will be assessed through a combination of practical observations, written work, which will be supported by self study and research, and submission of a portfolio of evidence. As some of the evidence for your Assessor qualification will be gathered remotely, you will ideally have the following technology available to you:

a) A pc/ laptop

b) Access to the internet, Skype and a webcam

c) Access to a flip/cam/video/smart phone or camera for evidence gathering


On successful achievement of the qualification you will meet the quality assurance criteria necessary to assess NVQ, SVQ and VRQ qualifications. With experience you will be able to progress to undertaking a qualification to enable you to carry out the role of Internal Quality Assurer.

Entry requirements In order begin working towards becoming an internal quality assurer you should be an experienced and qualified assessor for your relevant vocational area and ideally hold D32/33, A1 or the Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement.


The course will be assessed through a combination of written work, one practical observation and submission of an e-portfolio of evidence. As some of the evidence for your IQA internal quality assurer qualification will be gathered remotely, you will ideally have the following technology available to you:

• A computer

• Access to the internet, Skype and a webcam

• Access to a flip cam/video/smart phone or camera for evidence gathering


This qualification provides the knowledge and skills required to progress to employment as an internal quality assurer. With experience you will be able to further your career in internal quality assurance by undertaking a qualification to enable you to carry out the role of Lead Internal quality assurer: Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice.

Cost £550 per delegate for the qualification registration, training, e-portfolio support, tutor support over the three month period, assessment and certification.

Course duration One initial day training followed by up to a maximum of three months to gather evidence, complete the requirements and reflective practice needed to present your portfolio of evidence.

Who the course is for Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice (QCF) is a practical-based qualification intended for those who manage the quality of assessment for NVQ and/or VRQ qualifications from within an organisation or assessment centre.

Entry requirements In order begin working towards becoming a lead internal quality assurer you should be an experienced and qualified internal quality assurer and hold D34, V1 or Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice


The course will be assessed through a combination of recognition of prior learning and evidence of planning, target setting and reviewing team work. Two observations and submission of a portfolio of evidence. As some of the evidence for your lead internal quality assurer qualification will be gathered remotely, you will ideally have the following available to you:• A computer

• Access to the internet, Skype and a webcam

• Access to a flip cam/video/smart phone or camera for evidence gathering

• IQA team to facilitate and support the completion of learning outcomes.


This qualification provides the knowledge and skills required to progress to employment as Lead internal quality assurer. With experience you will be able to further your career in internal quality assurance by undertaking a qualification to enable you to carry out the role of Lead Internal quality assurer and possess the required qualification to progress to External Quality assurance qualifications.

Entry requirements In order to begin working towards becoming an assessor you must have one of the following: • Level 2 and level 3 NVQ or VRQ qualifications or equivalent, plus sufficient relevant industrial experience that is current and appropriate to the unit(s) of the NVQ or VRQ you are intending to assess. • Have substantial industrial experience that is current and appropriate to the unit(s) of NVQ or VRQ you are intending to assess.
