How do we give up Guilt and Shame?

1. Acknowledge it! Romans 3: 22 – 24, “22 We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are. 23 For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. 24 Yet God, with undeserved kindness, declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. “

2. Leave your past behind 2 Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.“

Philippians 3:13, "...this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before."

3. Repent1 John 1:9, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from ALL unrighteousness."

4. Forgive those that have hurt or offended you, including yourself! Hebrews 12:14-15 says, Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this trouble many are defiled.

5. Change your mindset

Romans 12:2 “be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God”

6. Know who you are in Christ/IDENTITY

I am a child of God - But to all who have received him--those who believe in his name--he has given the right to become God's children … (John 1:12)

I am a ‘kings kid,’ a joint heir to the throne (Romans 8: 17)

I am fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalms 139:14)

I have been accepted by Christ - Therefore, accept one another, just as Christ also accepted us to the glory of God. (Romans 15:7)
