Tips for completing a reverification for an employee on F-1 Visa with an I-9 in Tracker

Reverification Process for an Employee with an I-9 in Tracker – F-1 Visa Holder
Search for the employee’s I-9 for whom you need to do a reverification either:
using the search functionality
clicking on the blue number link in the Employee Reverification Due under the Form I-9 Task Summary
or clicking on the Employee Name link under the Top 10 Reverify Section on your Dashboard
The system will display Sections 1 and 2 of the I-9.

1. Click on the View Section 3: Updating and Reverification button at the bottom of the screen

Steps to Initiate Reverification
2. Click the Add New Section 3 button at bottom of the I-9 Record Summary Information (Current) screen

3. Click the Select Document button in the middle of the screen

Finding the Document
4. Scroll through the appropriate list to find the documentation presented for the extension/reverification, click on the document (will normally be the Foreign Passport with I-94 although employee will normally only have the I-20 reflecting the work authorization extension)

Reverification for F-1 6. Enter the Document # (normally the SEVIS # from the I-20) and new Expiration Date; indicate passport and I-94 information in Notes and Tasks box. (NOTE: If the employee provides an acceptable receipt for the extension, enter the document # and expiration date and check the “Employee presented an acceptable receipt in lieu of an original document” box. You will need to see the original document within 90 days and go back into the I-9, enter the final Document # and Expiration Date, uncheck the receipt box and re-sign Section 3.)

F-1 OPT Extension with Receipt
Expiration date reflects 180 days from current expiration date.
Once the Employment Authorization Card (EAD) is received, you will need to search for the employee’s I-9, and follow Steps 1 - 7
If the employee provides an acceptable receipt for the extension, enter the document # and expiration date and check the “Employee presented an acceptable receipt in lieu of an original document” box. The employee will need to present to you the original document within 90 days. At that time, you will need to access the I-9, uncheck the “Employee presented an acceptable receipt in lieu of an original document” box, enter the final Document # and Expiration Date, and re-sign Section 3.
