21st IFAC World Congress Berlin, Germany, July 12‐17, 2020 Track on: Mechatronics and Intelligent Systems in Railways Until recently the railway industry has lagged behind other industries in terms the uptake of mechatronics and intelligent systems technologies. However, rail is truly embracing the many opportunities presented to improve system design through a mechatronics and control systems centered approach to design, safety monitoring and maintenance. This open invited track welcomes submissions from researchers working on both sides of the wheel‐rail interface to make novel contributions to vehicle and track technology. The track is sponsored by the Mechatronics (TC4.2) and SafeProcess (TC6.4) communities and we encourage proposals looking at mechatronic design, fault detection, monitoring and control of railways systems. By presenting a broad cross‐section of the state‐ of‐the‐art in mechatronics, fault detection and intelligent monitoring systems for railway applications, this will provide an excellent forum for discussion about the latest developments in the area and potential areas for future interest and collaboration. Papers for this track can be of the full‐paper format (6 pages) or extended abstract (2 pages). For more detail see: https://www.ifac2020.org/call/. Please submit your papers through the IFAC 2020 papercept submission system at https://ifac.papercept.net/conferences/scripts/start.pl. The special code for this track is si3j3 We look forward to seeing you in Berlin. Roger Dixon Birmingham Centre for Railway Research and Education, University of Birmingham, B15 2TT, UK. .
