Modeling a Toy  

The task was to choose a Toy/Action figure and bring front, back and profile images to the lesson. Our teacher Pete would then judge whether the toy is a little above moderate in simplicity for the student to model.  Positives ­  I really enjoyed modelling Optimus prime, I was also a little surprised that I was allowed to model a toy that was quite as complicated for a first time Maya user. I chose Optimus Prime because I watched the animated series when I was a child and feel a nostalgia for the image.  Issues ­  I spent the week modelling the same Optimus Prime, I hadn’t stopped to check if there might be an exam that required me to rebuild the model in just two hours. I found this out on the night before fridays lab lesson so I practiced overnight.   I am aware that the model I created during the timed exam isn’t quite comparable to my first model, But it is accurate in many ways, I only wish that I had spent more time modeling the head accurately first before moving forward to the body.  

 Above shows my first Model of Optimus Prime that I began in class.  

 

 Above is the Optimus I created in the space of two hours during my Exam.  

Here you can see my Optimus Prime that I have taken my time with, he is more accurate and overall symmetrical. I hope to spend more time on him, and maybe eventually rig and texture.
