  • Vice-Presidents Report - April 2014

Hi Everyone. The time has come for our next newsletter. First off I want to thank and congratulate you, the new volunteers for being on board. You have made a big difference in time reduction for production of various chores. In particular I would like mention the Bluewater Community Venue. Set up time had been halved and the band was able to have an early tea to be ready for the start of the performance. Again I must thank Jimmy Griggs for looking after the sound on the night, and although there were a few hiccups one must remember that he had not been on the mixing desk for some time. Mixers being what

they are and all considered I have no doubt it will improve. Thanks to all members for your patience. On the 30th March Townsville/Thuringowa Country Music Club (TTCMA) joined with, and offered their expertise to enhance stage performance techniques and singing with a live band to members of The Voice Singing School. Thanks to Sammy White, (TTCMA Liaison Officer) for her organizational skills between the two clubs and making this event a huge success. This opportunity is open to members of both clubs as well as the Public to participate in. On Sunday, 6th April, TTCMA had the opportunity to perform at the opening of Jezzine Barracks, Kissing Point and at Alice River for the opening of a Horsemanship School for young people. We were able to showcase our young up and coming performers such as Tyson Lucas, Dylan Pope and Phoebe Foster-Griffiths who stole the show as usual. Thanks to the Management at Alice River who have made their venue available to TTCMA should the need arise. Sunday 6th was a huge day - time wise. Congratulations to the members who performed and same to the families of young performers who made their day a great success. Saturday 13th saw the evolution of two teams for sausage sizzles. One team worked at Bunnings North Shore and other at Sportscene, Currajong. The sometimes erratic and untimely updates of the movement of Cyclone Ita werent enough to dampen their spirits. As the saying goes The show must go on. Income from both places made it all worthwhile. I must point out whilst this was a rare event, we now know that we have reliable members support, so thanks to all who participated on the day. Cyclone Ita did indeed have its day on Sunday 14th dumping hundreds of millimeters of rain over the city with wind speeds up to 100km/hr. Sadly we had to cancel our Sunday Funday at St Josephs School Mundingburra. Be ready for the next one!! In closing I would like to wish Darryl and Maureen Pitt a safe and relaxing holiday. We look forward to having them back on the 6th May feeling fresh and renewed. During this time please be aware that Pitt Stop Wednesday and Thursday practice will be cancelled until then. Meantime this is Eddie Albert sayin. See ya when Im Lookin at Ya!!!

    lifeblood

Three blonde men are on one side of a wide river and don't know how to get to the other side. The first man prays to God to make him smart enough to figure out how to cross the river, so God turns him into a brown-haired man and he swims across. The second man prays to God to make him even smarter, so God turns him into a dark-haired man and he builds a boat and rows across. Then the third man prays to God to make him the smartest of all, so God turns him into a woman and she walks across the bridge.

Did you ever wonder who was the first person to do these things?

Betcha it was a dumb man.

--Who was the first person to look at a cow and say, "I think I'll

squeeze these dangly things here, and drink whatever comes out!"

--Who was the first person to say, "See that chicken there? I'm

gonna eat the next thing that comes out of its butt!"

    Yep!

There were 11 people hanging on to a single rope that suspended them from a helicopter trying to bring them to safety. Ten were men; one was a woman. They all decided that one person would have to let go because if they didn't, the rope would break and all of them would die. No one could decide who it should be. Finally the woman gave a really touching speech, saying how she would give up her life to save the others, because women were used to giving things up for their husbands and children and giving in to men. All of the men

    started clapping.
