    REPORT OF SUPERVtSOR OF MUSIC

To the Superintendent and S chool Board of Atkin

    ~son

    ,N. H .

I“ submit herewith my fourth ann

    r

    ua l report as super

vi sor of music in the Atkinson school'

    s.

The work in this department dthr ing the year ha s

progressed steadily along the usual l ines and has been

m easurably succ essful . A large percentage of the suc

c ess of the work in music is due to the constant helpful

    ness of the teachers .

The Progressive Musi c Course is being used in the“ upper grades at the Center , Depot and North End. This

course furnishes a variety of exercises and songs which

are helpful and tuneful . The Holl is Dann Musi c Course

used in the upper grades at the S awyer S chool deals wi th

the problems . step by st ep and is particularly good for

part singing . I wish we might have this b o ok in more

of our s chool s next year . In the l ower grades the New

Educational Book I,works out very well in songs and

exercises the steps taken in the first four grades .

Hollis Dann Junior S ongs used for work in the High"S ch ool

,is among the very best . The song mater i al is un

‘ usually attr act ive ; there ar e some old- time favorites ;there a re many new songs composed espe cially for thi s

cours e which are sure t o delight every per son .

I wish to tha nk again the Superintendent of S chools ,“ the S chool Board and the teachers of Atkinson for the

    s uppor t and c'

o- operat ion give me .

    R espe ctfully submitted ,
