Town of Huntington Senior Trip

FALL FOR THE NORTH FORK Thursday, October 25, 2018 $99 Per Person

Includes transportation, lunch, chocolate tasting, wine, beer or cider tasting & all fees!

Bus departs 10:00 am Returns 5:30 pm

The day begins with lunch in Aquebogue, at the Modern Snack Bar. Since 1950,

the Modern Snack Bar has been a North Fork landmark for great home cooking. The

Wittmeier family began the restaurant with a simple premise: to serve good food at a

reasonable price to their "family" of patrons. Lunch includes Soup of the Day, and a

Choice of: Fresh Chicken Salad Sandwich, Bacon Cheeseburger or Grilled Veggie Burger,

Sliced Turkey Sandwich or Homemade Chicken Pot Pie. Soft drinks, Fresh Pies, Coffee and

Hot Tea are also included.

Allow some room after lunch for chocolate tastings at the North Fork Chocolate Company.

In 2012, Co-founders Ann and Steve began their journey at the Stony Brook University

Incubator and are the 1st graduates of the program. They went on to have a pop-up at

Tanger Outlets and in 2014, landed their first brick & mortar in Aquebogue where they

handcraft “small batch” chocolates and gourmet desserts using LOCAL farm and

purveyor products on Long Island. There’s an Art Gallery, plus local handcrafted goods

and gifts.

Once home to TREAT Potato Chips, which operated back in the 1960s and more recently

a warehouse for Blackman Plumbing Supply, our next property was redeveloped in 2017

to become the Riverhead Ciderhouse. Tastings are included here and choices include

local beer, wine and apple ciders. Self-playing pianos, dual fireplaces, interior doors

transformed into tabletops and many unique items create a décor that is both interesting

and relaxing.

For our final stop, we visit the Shoppes at East Wind, a small village of unique cottage-style

stores clustered in a courtyard of brick paved walkways. This makes a great ice cream

stop!

BUS LEAVES FROM: Huntington Station Railroad parking lot at corner of Church Street and New York Ave.

You will be leaving your vehicles parked here, NOT at the Senior Center. A parking permit is not required.
