“In The Mood” 40’s Big Band Music, Bankhead TheaterWednesday, February 19, 10:45 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Enjoy the music of Glenn Miller, the Andrews Sisters, Benny Goodman and Sinatra in an upbeat swing-era revue. More than a concert, this fully-staged tribute with dancers and singers is a tribute to all the big band greats of the 40’s.The matinee starts at 2:00 p.m. We will be having lunch at the Zephyr Cafe, located near the Bankhead Theater prior to the show. Price includes concert and lunch. Fees: $114(R) $136(NR). Activity Level: 2

Georgia O’Keefe Exhibit: de Young MuseumTuesday, February 25, 7:15 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

From 1918 until the early 1930’s, Georgia O’Keefe lived for part of the year at Alfred Stiegllitz’s 36-acre family property situated just north of Lake George Village, along the western shore in the Adirondack Mountains. This is the first major exhibition devoted to this period in her career. O’Keefe created more than 200 paintings on canvas and paper in addition to sketches and pastels, making the Lake George years among the most prolific and transformative of her seven-decade career. We will have a docent-led tour of this exhibit prior to the opening of the museum, time on our own to explore, and lunch at the museum cafe. Price includes box lunch. Fees: $69(R) $82(NR). Camron Stanford House/Oakland Museum Thursday, January 16, 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

The lovely Camron-Stanford House on Lake Merritt is a wonderful example of Victorian architecture. Join us for a docent-led tour and a walk in the gardens (weather permitting). Enjoy lunch at the Camron Stanford House by a well-known local caterer. After lunch we will go to the Oakland Museum for a docent-led tour of the exhibit, Above and Below The Bay, a fascinating exploration of history about everything concerning the Bay. Some of the greatest films in movie history were made in the City. Join our tour guide Craig Smith, on this fun motor coach tour of the movies made in and about San Francisco. San Francisco Symphony, Night at the OscarsSaturday, February 15, 4:00 p.m.-11:00 p.m.

This course is designed for drivers 50 and older and covers normal physical changes and provides techniques to compensate for these changes. The course fosters defensive driving practices to stay alive on today’s fast-moving highways and includes an auto insurance discount certificate. Stretching is the process of elongating the muscles, tendons and ligaments that connect the muscles and bones of the body. As the body ages, these attachments tend to shorten, resulting in a predisposition to injury. Hiking Club The Danville Area Senior Hikes (DASH) is open to

adults ages 55 and up. Most hikes are not strenuous, but gradients are involved due to the local terrain. Distances are usually 4-5 miles, and the pace is moderate. Trailheads are reached via carpools; passengers are asked

Senior Issues Sub-committee Meetings in 2014 Wednesday, Jan. 22, April 23, July 23, Oct. 22

REGISTRATION INFORMATION Mail or drop off your registration form to the Danville Senior Center or the Danville Community Center. All resident registrations received by December 10 at 5:00p.m. will be processed beginning Wednesday, December 11, with no priority given. Non-resident registration will begin on Friday, December 13. Phone and walk-in registration will begin on Monday, December 16. To register by phone, please contact the Danville Senior Center (925)314-3490. Please note times listed for each Senior Sneaker trip are approximate. Staff will mail out a detailed checklist approximately one week before the trip with exact meeting time. Class Cancellation/Withdrawals Requests for withdrawal will be honored if requested no later than 5 business days prior to the first day of class. Requests made less than 5 business days prior to the first day of class must be submitted in writing and will be considered on an individual basis. A $20 processing fee will be charged for check refunds; a $5 processing fee for credit card refunds. Make-up Classes Whenever possible, make-up classes will be given on those occasions when inclement weather or instructor illness requires that a class be cancelled. No refunds (whole or partial) can be given for classes missed by the student. Senior Sneaker Trip Refund Policy: When registration falls below the minimum enrollment required, it may be necessary to cancel a trip. At the time of cancellation, the Town will initiate a full refund. Please allow 3 to 4 weeks for refunds to be processed. Withdrawal and refund requests must be submitted five working days prior to the trip. Refunds will not be given for trips designated (no refund). Senior Sneaker Trip Registration Priority: Due to the high demand of the Senior Sneaker program, seniors will be limited to registering for two trips per month, or a total of four per issue of the Silver Streak newsletter. When choosing your trips, please number them in order of priority. In Case of Emergency: Please call Senior Services to verify that your emergency contact information is current. Since prompt medical care is crucial in an emergency, the Town would like to ensure we have the most current information for each participant.
