2016 WINTER PROGRAMS Dear Clarence Residents:
We are proud to present you with our annual Youth Bureau
and Recreation Department Winter Brochure. There are a
variety of activities, programs and events we think you will
find interesting, motivating and fun! The brochure is
organized by month, January – April. Each entry includes
dates, times, location, cost, description and registration
instructions. As always, if you have any questions, please
feel free to call us at 407-2162.
General Information
Checks/money orders should be made payable to:
Town of Clarence Separate checks must be written for each class.
Class sizes are limited, therefore, classes will be filled on a
first come, first served basis. We reserve the right to cancel
a class due to insufficient registration.
For safety reasons, personnel from the Town of Clarence are
not responsible for children dropped off early, picked up late
or unattended when their classes are not in session.
Each participant must have a completed registration form on
file in order to participate.
Refunds will be given only if a class is cancelled due to
insufficient registration.
You must provide your own transportation unless otherwise
noted.

CYB CRAFT TIME
Do your kids love to make crafts? Then they will enjoy this program
where they will complete a few crafts with a winter theme. This is
a great opportunity to show off their crafty skills!

ART WITH DEANNA
Boys ages 7-12 are invited to join Deanna at the Youth Bureau to
create their own one-of-a-kind painting! Deanna will take you
through it step by step. You will take home a colorful 12” x 12”
canvas masterpiece of Spiderman to enjoy and show off to your
family and friends. You will also get to keep your paint palette and
paintbrush set.

Addiction to opiates, especially among teens and young adults, is growing at an alarming rate in WNY, and is now considered an epidemic;
188 people have died in Erie County from opiate related deaths. Health officials predict 270 deaths by the end of 2015;
Heroin and other opiates have become one of the most widely abused drugs in Buffalo and surrounding suburbs.
This is an adult only presentation.

Participants will enjoy 1:4 ratios with our experienced staff
providing personal interaction with each child. Age appropriate
learning is emphasized through a variety of theme-based, fun,
hands-on activities, social and organized play, crafts, snacks, and
story time. Through individualized attention, our caring staff
encourages your child to do their very best! Your child must be
potty-trained at the time of registration.

WINTERFEST 2016
SUNDAY, JANUARY 31ST
12:00 – 5:00 PM ~ Main St. Town Park Indoor and outdoor fun! Sledding, ice-skating, hayrides, bonfire,
petting zoo, sled-dogs, ice sculptures. Informational booths, crafts,
food, games and much more! Entertainment including: Charlie &
Checkers, Rochez Academy Irish Dancers, Light Saber Demonstrations
and Star Wars-Themed Characters. Free admission. Fun for all ages!
Sponsored by the Youth Bureau and Clarence Chamber of Commerce.

ADULT CO-ED VOLLEYBALL
Pick-up volleyball for all levels of players. Teams will be chosen
each night to play pick-up games. If Clarence schools are closed
due to inclement weather or any other reason, volleyball is

FEBRUARY
BABYSITTER TRAINING COURSE Taking care of young children is an important responsibility! This course
will help you learn what you need to know to be the best and most
responsible babysitter you can be. You will learn about the business of
babysitting, how to care for infants and toddlers and several first aid skills.
Each student receives a babysitter manual, CD-ROM and an emergency
reference guide. A certificate of completion from the Red Cross will be
provided. Please bring a lunch and drink.

NIAGARA FALLS AIR FORCE BASE FIELD TRIP
Have you ever wanted to see what it would be like to work at the
Niagara Falls Air Force Base? We will get a full tour of the base
and a C130 aircraft, visit their updated fire station, try on the bomb
squad suit, and see a weapons display. No food is allowed on base.
Please wear sneakers and dress for the weather. Space is limited to
18 participants.

STORY SMASH
On February 17th, your child will experience an interactive read-
aloud of the storybook titled The Mitten. The children will get to
climb into a giant hand-made mitten while the story is read. We will
have a craft and snack to go along with the story. On February 19th,
your child will get involved in the reading of the book Tops and
Bottoms. Your child will get to plant their own “crops”, play a relay
race game and enjoy a snack. This is an enriching program that will
foster a love of reading in your child.

Come have fun playing 18 holes of black light mini-golf, riding
spinning bumper cars and playing in a three story high indoor
playground! We will also play some arcade games and have a
chance to win a prize. You are sure to have a blast while at “Just
Fun”! All activities are supervised by the “Just Fun” staff along with

CLARENCE YOUTH VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
“Offering an exciting way for youth to give back to their community”
The Youth Volunteer Program provides opportunities for youth,
ages 12-20, to volunteer their time to local agencies and
organizations through a variety of service activities. Members
attend a one and a half-hour orientation where rules and
responsibilities are outlined. A monthly calendar of activities and
events to choose from is sent via email to all members. Youth have
the opportunity to work with children, senior citizens, people with
disabilities, or simply lend a hand at community events and
celebrations. Transportation in the youth van is provided to many
events. The Volunteer Program is recognized by the Clarence
School District as a community service accrediting organization for
both underclass and senior hours.

BELLE’S TEA PARTY
Dress like a princess and spend the afternoon with Belle and her
friends. We will be making magical mirrors, a secret book, and a tea
cup bracelet! We will also be playing fun games involving
Cogsworth the Clock! While you are having a bite to eat, Belle will
be telling you her story. Up to 2 adults can attend with their child.
