Family-owned and operated for 60 years, Aufgang Travel and Cruise Center is one of the oldest travel agencies in the Greater Toronto Area. Originally located at 310 College Street, Aufgang Travel moved premises in 1969 to its 3582 Bathurst Street and in October 2007 to its present location at 7077 Bathurst street Ste. 204 at Bathurst and Steeles area. A family-built agency has managed to survive for six decades in an industry that has experienced unceasing change, largely because it began specializing years ago. The agency has a niche market, among other things Aufgang Travel does large groups, especially to Israel. While the agency now marks its 60th year, Isaac Aufgang actually started an agency in Paris, France in the early 1930s. He operated this agency until just before the start of World War II, when the family left Paris, travelled through Europe and eventually arrived in Canada in 1944. Within 5 years, Isaac Aufgang opened his agency at 310 College Street and the rest – as they say – is history.

Graduating from the University of Toronto in 1961, Emile Aufgang followed his father’s footsteps into the travel business. He led his forst group to Israel in 1961, launching his independent career. Over the years he developed two specific niches in the Canada-Israel market:

firstly, very large groups, such as those under the auspices of the Zionist Organization of Canada, the March of the Living, Hadassah-WIZO, the UJA and incentives. He also developed a second niche in the Israel market for customized family trips for North Americans.
