Tourist Guide at Statue of Unity and Sardar Sarovar Dam Site

Introduction

Government of Gujarat is building an iconic 182 meter tall statue, Statue of Unity as a tribute

to the Iron Man of India, in Sadhu-Bet, approximately 3.5 kms south of the Sardar Sarovar

Dam in Narmada district.

The statue is proposed to be dedicated to the nation shortly.

Components of the Statue of Unity

1. 182 meter high - World’s Tallest Statue

2. Viewing Gallery

3. Museum & Audio Visual Gallery

4. A Laser, Light and Sound show

5. Research Centre

6. Shrestha Bharat Bhavan (Administrative complex / management hub cum hotel)

7. Refreshment areas like restaurants and recreational spots to make the project area

an attractive tourist spot, thus facilitating tourism and employment for the surrounding

tribal region.

8. Ferry Services

The site is expected to witness unprecedented tourist footfalls from across the world. To

enhance the tourists’ experience and to provide them with authentic information, it is

essential to have trained guides deployed at the site following the inauguration.

The guides are expected to have:

� Strong Communication Skills, preferably with knowledge of Hindi, English, and

Gujarati languages.

� Knowledge of International languages and other regional Indian languages will be an

added advantage.

� Personable & Outgoing

� Improvisational Skills

� Enthusiastic and amicable personality

Potential Candidates are requested to take note:

1. Graduate candidates in any discipline may apply.

2. The Age criteria for the candidates would be from 21 to 35 years.

3. Around 60 selected candidates would be shortlisted for the training and the

remaining would be waitlisted and contacted in case of further requirements.

4. Interviews shall be conducted in multiple locations (on the same day) on 12th

September 2018. You are requested to keep checking the websites for details on

date, time and venue.

5. Candidates are also requested to check the websites for details regarding

submissions (copy of degree, CV, photographs, experience letters etc)

6. A stipend of Rs.15,000/- per month is proposed to be provided to the selected

candidates. The selected Guides would be on probation till 31st March, 2019.

Thereafter on satisfactory performance there may be further extension for a few

years.

7. The selected candidates will have to provide Guide services either at the Statue of

Unity or the Sardar Sarovar Dam site as informed by the authorities on timely basis.

8. Existing Guides at the Status of Unity and Dam sites are also welcome to apply.

9. In exceptional cases the eligibility criteria in form of educational qualification and age

limit, may be relaxed at the discretion of competent authority.
