After Julius Ceaser defeated his Pompey he decided to build a theater that would rival theirs.  Only a few years after he started he died in 44 B.C.  Many years later the Emperor Augustus restarted the project it was then finished in 13 B.C.  It then became the largest theater of the Roman Empire and was named Theatrum Marcelli in Memory of  Augustus' sister Octavia.

The diemeter of the seating area is 130 meters and can hold 14,000 spectaters.  During the 12 century the theater was owned by the Favvi Family who turned it into a fortress.  During the 16th century it was owned by the Savelli Family and turned into a palazzo.

                          Forum

The forum was a place where everyone would go for basic things like shopping for food and clothes to work or goverment! Every empire would add on new part to the Forum. People would also give speeches here. People would bank or trade. Businessmen made deals and bankers disscused loans. But many people left goods and things like that at the temples of the gods. At times you could even hear a lawyer presenting someones case.

As you can see the Forum is an everyday thing like going to a mall but in ancient Rome.
