Early morning transfer to Entebbe airport for flight to Kihihi airstrip. Met upon arrival and transfer to Buhoma Lodge (approx 50 km) by
road. Buhoma Lodge commands spectacular views of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. It’s a
perfect base for a tracking experience as it offers 8 comfortable chalets, each with own private verandah and enormous windows, allowing
guests incredible views of the Bwiindi Forest. Each chalet has en suite facilities. An elevated lounge area, complete with bar and dining
facilities offers a cozy place to discuss the day’s activities. Evenings are generally chilly and a homely fireplace adds warmth to both the bar
and the atmosphere. This afternoon you can relax and take in the fresh air, or take a forest walk, a very nice way to warm up before the
Gorilla Tracking. Bwindi is a UNESCO world Heritage site and a spectacular place to visit. There are over 350 species of birds that live in
the area. There are also the rare forest elephant, giant forest hog and about 11 kinds of primates, including the red tailed and blue monkey,
black and white colobus, baboons and chimpanzee. There is also forest duiker, bush buck and over 200 species of butterflies are found in the
park. Overnight Buhoma Lodge including all meals, teas and coffee’s, laundry, park fees (drinks not included)

Early breakfast this morning before a briefing from our guide. Tracking commences every morning from the Park headquarters at 8.00 am.
The Mountain Gorillas that are tracked belong to one of the “habituated” family groups in Northern Bwindi. No more than 8 people at a
time will go and see each group of Gorillas. Experienced guides will accompany the tracking. Tracking the Gorillas is a magical experience
and nothing can prepare you for the impact of encountering a fully grown silverback gorilla which is up to three times the size of an average
human, yet they are remarkably peaceful and tolerant of human visitors. Typically tracking takes anything from 3 to 8 hours and requires
some agility and fitness. However, in the past we have had clients who have found a gorilla family within 30 minutes of leaving camp and
even had them in camp. There are approximate 800 mountain gorilla’s left in the world, of which an estimated 300 live in the Bwindi Forest,
in Uganda. Currently there are nine groups or families of habituated gorillas which can be tracked by tourists. Once you have located your
group you will be allowed to spend a maximum of one hour with them. You will be given a packed lunch to take with you.
Overnight Buhoma Lodge – all meals, park fees, laundry, gorilla tracking
Saturday 18 June 2016
Today you have a choice of activities. You can take a guide and do a walk to some waterfalls. This is a great way to see birds of which there
some 24 endemic species to the area. There are also unique butterflies and plants found in the park. The forest is magical and you will be
astounded at its beauty. Alternatively you can go visit the Batwa pigmy tribe or do a local village and school walk. Overnight Buhoma lodge
– all meals, park fees, laundry and one of the above activities
Sunday 19 June 2016
Today you will be transferred to Kihihi airstrip for your flight back to Entebbe scheduled to depart at 0945 and arriving at 1120 hours.
Those flying out on South African Airways early on the 20 June will overnight at Boma Guest lodge on a bed and breakfast basis. For those
departing on Kenyan airways, depending on what time their flight departs, may return to Boma Guest House for lunch and transferred to
the airport at a later time.

Kanyonyi is the dominant silverback in the Mubare family
and ever since he took over the family from his late father
Ruhondeza, who passed away at a ripe age of 50, he’s made
headlines in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
He immediately embarked on an ambitious expansion policy
and recently sustained injuries trying to ‘poach’ more
members for the Mubare family. Consequently, another lone
silverback called Malaya gave him a dose of his own
medicine and stole three members from his family.
Kanyonyi stood strong and displayed his prowess by
recovering all three members that were taken. Kanyonyi can
be defined as a character with large ambitions. Today, due
to his large ego, he has up to eighteen members in his group.
