Compagnie miniere de touissit Overview
Mining Company. In existence since the 9th century ad. Used in modern times since 1954 Located in the Middle Atlas region of Morocco Mainly mines lead, zinc, and silver
These are used mainly for quartz, siderite, ankerite, barite and/or calcite
Located on the Tighza Paleozoic Formation. Uses core drilling and wells to extract the minerals
History
History Mine Tighza: By 1924, traces of old workings, dating from the ninth and
twelfth centuries, had been discovered on the site Aouam. These tracks suggest a fairly complete, metallurgical mining of
lead, zinc and silver. Mine was probably abandoned due to the defect, insufficient,
technological ability to dewater. Supported by the Royal Company of Asturian Mines (CRAM),
a company, a partnership between France and the Belgian Office of Research and Participation in Mining (BRPM).
The mine was sold to SMA in 1993 but then again in 1996 to the mining company Touissit
