Prepare to feel the heat. Bad boy chef Gordon Ramsay has not just onebut two new 1V series. But, whatever you do, don't call him a 1V chef
bully who bulldozes his way througheverything! But I'm not here to be smanny. The thing about me is, when things gowrong, they get fixed straightaway.'
Gordon, 37, has two new shows this year,Ramsay'sKitchenNightmareson C4 andHell's Kitchenon !TV!. Thefirst is a four-part series thatfollows Gordon as he visitsstruggling restaurants andadvises how to turn themaround. He does sometough talking - and, being Gordon, there aredramatic confrontations.
The first episode takeshim to Bonapartes, arestaurant in West Yorkshire. Here, he meets Tun, 21, whohas talked his way into theposition of Head Chef. ButGordon finds that Tun, who prides himself onhis 'fine dining menu', can't even cook an
omelette and has rotting food in his kitchen.'The guy couldn't even tell thedifferencebetween lamb, pork and
beef! He put an omelette in the ****ingoven. I was like, "What the hell areyou doing?" I was horrified!'
In his second show, Hell'sKitchen(to be shown later this
year), 10celebswill spend justone week being trained by
Gordon. Then they'llmove
into the kitchen of an 80-seater restaurant, where the nation can watch them cope.
'This show is going to be big, and there ansome formidable characters involved! We'regoing to crack those egos into a pan, seasonwith rock salt, and you're guaranteed a
****ingdisaster!So does Gordon now see
himself as a TV chef? 'No! I'mmore sought after for the foodI deliver to customers than fOicooking on TV.My restaurantdo exceedingly well and Iwork bloody hard.
'I think KitchenNightmareswill illustrate what I'm about.came into cooking as a secondoption after a footballinginjury [he played for GlasgowRangers], and now I'm here, Iwill damn well try my hardest
Anyone who comes into this industrythinking it's a job, is wrong - it's a passion.'
And Gordon is passionate - not only aboulhis food but about life too. 'I come from a bigfamily and we didn't really have much, andeverything I have now I've worked for.Atmy funeral I want everyone walking roundwith a glass of pink champagne and achocolate fondant. ****ingindulge - I did!'
Aspen Weatherbun. Ramsay's Kitchen Heaven is the tie-incookbook for Ramsay's Kitchen NightmaresAvailable from 6 May, priced £20. Gordon will
also be on Parkinson (BBC1, Saturday)
There's no way I'm going round thecountry showing people how tomake a Cornish pasty. Frankly, itdoesn't interest me. And appearingon Ready Steady T***is not my style!'Multi Michelin-starred chef
Gordon Ramsay is as well known for hisvolatile personality and colourfullanguageas he is for his spectacular food, as wasapparent in his Channel 4 show BoilingPoint,in which he rained abuse on his staff. And,last year, he got a few people's backs upwhen he appeared on Room101.
'I decided to send taxi drivers into Room101... but it was a joke! I wasn't going to sitthere and be ****ingcheesy. I'd had a badexperience with a taxi driver a couple ofweeks before I went on the show, and it was
one of those things that justsprung to mind'.
So how does he~ feel the public
, perceives him?'As a 151/2st
