L’amour.“Love is a temporary madness. It erupts like an earthquake and then subsides. And when it subsides you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots have become so en-twined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not ex-citement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion. That is just being “in love” which any of us can convince ourselves we are.
Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident. Your mother and I had it, we had roots that grew towards each other underground, and when all the pretty blossom had fallen from our branches we found that we were one tree and not two.”
-Louis de Bernieres
We hope your Valentine’s Day is special and full of love! For us, at Taste of Timmins, it is a day to remember all of our wonderful rela-tionships within the community. It is, after all, the day of love AND friendship~ and without friendships, we’d not have a community.
In the spirit of community and friendship, we hope to see you at the upcoming ‘Empty Bowls Lunch & Fundraiser’ event
this Sunday, February 19, 2012.
What is this event all about? Potters and other craftspeople, edu-cators and others work with the community to create handcrafted bowls. Guests are invited to a simple yet delicious meal of soup and bread. In exchange for a cash donation (in this case your purchase of a ticket to attend), guests are asked to keep a bowl as a remind-er of all the empty bowls in the world. The money raised is donated
to an organization working to end hunger and food insecurity, in this case Anti-Hunger Coalition Timmins (ACT).
We are also pleased to announce that this event will truly have a ‘local’ flare! The Yummy Sweet Potato Bacon and Portobello Mush-room soups will be lovingly made by Chef Justin Lesveques of Twist-
ed Fork Bistro in Iroquois Falls. Also, Diane Rochefort of D!Chef will prepare the Lentil Vegetable and Chicken Chowder soups! Ingre-dients for the soups will include carrots and potatoes from Hawk-
feather Farm... What’s more, the beautiful pottery bowls handcraft-ed by the fine arts students of Northern College are GORGEOUS!
This is no ordinary lunch!
We hope you don’t miss out. And there are three places to buy your tickets. Pick them up at Northern College,
Timmins Native Friendship Center and at Naturally Pure Farm (when you purchase a ticket you get a dozen eggs free). For more information visit: www.naturallypurefarm.com
And may each minute, hour, and day be full of love and friendship!
