BID NO.: M06BK14048 TITLE: SUPPLY OF VARIOUS ELECTRICAL AND OVERHEAD CABLES FOR UP TO A

3-YR TERM

FOR INFORMATION PURPOSES ONLY Note: The following are questions that the TTC has received as of July 17th, 2014: Q1: Is RW90 or RWU90 required for Part Numbers 003318 and 060288? A1: These are custom made cables. Because the CSA designation of RW/RWU does not cover medium hard drawn copper stating RW/RWU has lead to major conflicts and confusion as cable manufacturers are unable to stamp the cable as per this specification/designation due to the fact that it calls for soft annealed copper specifically. This is the reason the extended part description specifies the cable and jacket SEPARATELY and the reason why special inspection and certification is requested for these customs made cables. Q2: ESA is not a testing lab or a certification body and inspection of cable part numbers 003318 and 060288 is requested to be performed by ESA? A2: Interpretation of the ‘inspection’ requirements for these cables is incorrect. TTC requires that cable inspection and test results be provided by an ESA recognized laboratory to ensure that the cable values meet insulation ratings specified in CSA spec 22.2 #38 latest AND the medium hard drawn copper is as per ASTN B2 latest specifications. These are custom made cables and require special inspection. Q3: Testing each cable reel for cable part numbers 003318 and 060288 would be very costly. Industry general practice is a type test for each batch by a 3rd party test lab. Would this be acceptable to the TTC? A3: No. Testing of each cable reel is required due to the custom nature of both cables and is a mandatory requirement. The above represents to the best of our knowledge a true representation of the questions received so far.
