Green Aviation Village is an eco-constructed pavillon to present Green Innovations. In fact the industry has defined roadmaps to reduce aircraft environmental impact by 50%. New lighter, more aerodynamic planes using satellite-linked avionics will reduce fuel consumption and noise. The ambitious goals involve materials, power, fuel, « smart wings », cockpit advances and independent energy sources for equipment.

Additive Manufacturing Meetings business convention

After 2 successful editions in France, Additive Manufacturing Meetings is for the 1st time in Italy. Additive manufacturing (AM) is a process of joining materials to make objects from 3-D model data, responding to cost effective and production needs, with an “on demand” manufacturing.

The advantages of additive manufacturing in the fields of prototyping, product development and rapid manufacturing are countless.

Fast time to market • creative freedom • significant savings from prototypes to mass production • flexibility • fast design modifications.

The initiative is part of the Plan for the Internationalization of Regione Piemonte and Unioncamere Piemonte and is co-financed by the Development and Cohesion Fund

With the B to B meetings we had the possibility to organize significant meetings with potential new suppliers and today with some of them we are discussing potential collaboration. The BCI organization was extremely efficient and allows the 2 days event to be effective and fruitful.Luciano MatteottiChief ProcurementTHALES ALENIA SPACE

In Piemonte, the aerospace sector is one of the productive and scientific excellences, confirming the regional vocation for technological innovation. In terms of wealth and resources, the Piedmontese aerospace industry employs approximately 15.200 people, with an annual turnover of around 3.6 billion €.

Five regional players stand out both at the national and international level: Alenia Aermacchi, Avio Aero, Microtecnica Actuation Systems/UTC, Selex ES, Thales Alenia Space. 280 SMEs operate alongside, whose technological and manufacturing processes are compatible with the technical standards (quality, accuracy, ability in handling special materials etc.) required by the sector.

The Piedmontese aerospace industry has a good ability to operate internationally, as certified by the amount of programmes – both commercial and military – in which local companies play a significant role.

The Piemonte supply chain is complete and offers:• final producers of complex subsystems• suppliers of parts, components or functional groups that are incorporated in these

subsystems• subcontractors of specialized manufacturing and equipment.

The spectrum of technological and manufacturing know-how is wide: metallurgy, mechanics, electromechanics, electronics, manufacturing and processing of plastics, rubber and all materials.

Thanks to the presence of the Politecnico di Torino and of other specialized research centers, Piemonte provides the necessary support to design and R&D activities to sustain business.
