2.1 Ghaziabad Development Authority has decided to take up the Consultancy

Services for Preparation of Detailed Project Report for construction of eight lane ring

road between #apur Road and $oni Road via %eerut Road including ROB over DelhiSaharanpur rail trac&, grade separator over %eerut Road, bridge over #indon and

improvement of Pipe $ine Road+

+0  GDA will be the employer and executing agency for the consultancy

services and the standards of output required from the appointed consultants

shall be of national level in terms of both quality and adherence to the agreed

time schedule.

.1 !he main ob"ective of the consultancy services is to prepare Detailed #ro"ect

$eport for construction of eight lane ring road between #apur Road and

$oni Road including detailing of road junctions, grade separators at

economical manner but consistent with the requirements of safe and highspeed travel and to establish the technical% economical% environmental% socialand financial viability of the pro"ect under a commercial format and under

different user fee scenarios and funding options.

new carriageways and required minor structures. (t would include

design of cross drainage structures and GAD of grade separated

structures including interchanges% toll check post% quantities of various

items. Detailed working drawings. Detailed cost estimates and pre'

qualification and tender documents in suitable contract packages for 

execution of civil works. !he work shall include study of environmental

enhancement.

b. (t is to be ensured that no material shall be used from the right'of'Bway

except by way of leveling the ground as required from the constructionpoint of view% or for landscaping and planting of trees etc. or from the

cutting of existing ground for obtaining the required formation levels.

c. nvironmental restrictions% if any and feasibility of availability of these

sites to prospective civil works contractors should be duly taken into

account while selecting new quarry locations.

highway facility. !he design of geometric elements shall. !herefore% take

into accounts the essential requirements of such facilities.b' 8ased on the data collected from reconnaissance and topographic surveys.

suitable measures for improvement should be suggested for 

implementation.

d' 9or the design of pavement each set of design input shall be decided on

the basis of rigorous testing and evaluation of its suitability and relevance

in respect of in'service performance of the pavement. !he designmethodology shall accompany the design proposals Band shall clearly

bring out the basic assumptions% values of the various design inputs%

rationale behind the selection or the design inputs and the criteria for 

checking and control during the implementation of works. (n other words.

the design or pavement structure should take due account of the type.

characteristics of materials used in the respective courses. variability of 

their properties and also the reliability of traffic predictions

e' !he pavement design task shall also cover working out the maintenance

and strengthening requirements and periodicity and timing of suchtreatments.

available materials consistent with economy use of fly ash where ever

section % desk level % founding level % type of bridge components )superstructure %

substructure % foundation % bearings % expansion "oint% retaining walls etc.* shall

be finalized based upon hydraulic and geo'technical studies% cost effectiveness

and ease of construction . !he GAD shall be supplemented by #reliminary

designs in respect of span arrangement and type of bridge a few alternatives

with cost benefits implications should be submitted to enable GDA%#2D 6(ndian

$ailway 6 +5$!4 to approve the best implications .

. Dismantling 6 reconstruction of exiting structures shall be avoided as far aspossible except where considered essential in view of there poor structural

conditions6 inadequacy of the provisions etc. the exiting structures having

inadequacy carriageways width shall be widened 6 reconstructed in part or fully

as per the latest +5$!74 guidelines .

&. !he exiting structure having inadequate carriageways width shall be widened 6

reconstructed in part or fully as per the latest +5$!74 guidelines. !he

consultant shall furnish the detailed design and working drawings for carrying out

for the proposed flyovers 6bridges6underpasses.

. (n case land available is not adequate for any reason% suitable design for $00retaining wall shall be furnished.

a' !he requirement of road'side drainage system and the integration of the

same with proposed cross'drainage system shall be worked out for the

entire length of the pro"ect road section.

b' (n addition to the road side drainage system% the 0onsultants shall design

the special drainage provisions for sections with super elevated

carriageways% high embankments and for road segments passing through

cuts. !he drainage provisions shall also be worked out for road segmentspassing through urban areas.
