Introduction

Have you ever seen a Tornado? If you saw a storm cloud spinning that is going fast and looks like a funnel, you might be looking at a tornado. If you see a tornado ask yourself this question: Isn’t the tornado cool? … And run for your life!

Chapter 1 What is a tornado?

A tornado is a deadly twister that strikes and can cause a lot of damage. A tornado can be very big and very fast. We hear the tornado when there is one near. It sounds like a train. We are lucky that most tornados are fairly weak. Very strong tornadoes can cause a lot of disaster and can make people die.

Chapter 2How tornadoes form?

A tornado begins in a big storm cloud called supercell. Cold and dry air hits moist warm air and light warm air rises. Then it starts to spin and gets longer and when it touches the ground it is a funnel. The funnel is thin, tall, strong, fast and sometimes dark. It connects the ground to the cloud and makes a tornado.

Chapter 3 Tornado Safety

When there is a tornado, you have to go indoor and stay away from windows. You have to go under a desk or something strong, and protect your head with your hands or something soft like a towel. When there is a tornado and you are in a car, you have to put your sit belt and cover your head. In case the tornado is kind of twisting towards you stay away from the tornado and stay far from the trees. Remember to lie down on the ground.

Conclusion

You learned about what is a tornado, for example if you see a funnel you know what will happened. You learned how tornado forms. You learned about tornado safety. And all the things that you learned make you an expert now.

Glossary

Funnel: It is wide at the top and narrow at the bottom. Moist: A bit wet Strike: to hit Supercell: A supercell is something that forms in the air.
