• Useful when hiking.
• Elevation is given in feet above sea level
KEY TERMS
• CONTOUR LINE – lines that show equal elevation

• INDEX CONTOUR – darker line that gives elevation above sea level

• RELIEF – the difference in elevation between the highest and lowest points in an area.
