Located in the stunning Kent Weald countryside, Bethany is a co- educational school for pupils aged 11 to 18. The school serves to increase the great divide between the fee paying and public sector, where sadly more and more pools are closing due to financial exigency. The school’s brief to the main contractor, Fowler Swimming Pools, was to replace an old 1930s outdoor pool and build a high quality, indoor 25m x 11.6m deck level, fully tiled pool with depths of 1m to 1.8m. Fowler and Norwegian Log Buildings designed the complex and were able to achieve planning permission in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Fowler identified and specified the pool’s key ingredients to meet the school’s exacting energy saving requirements. One of the systems used was the Calorex Delta 14 AHU environmental control unit supplied by Certikin International. The Calorex Delta 14 and 16 are the only specialist swimming pool heat recovery dehumidifiers to be included in a Government cash back scheme that provides a major cash boost for the commercial sector. The ECA scheme, as it is called, is designed to encourage energy efficiency in commercial projects and allows compliant machinery to benefit from a 100 per cent write-off against taxable profits in the first year. Inclusion in the list is recognition that the compact and powerful Calorex Delta 14 and 16 are recognised as providing low carbon and energy efficient environmental control for swimming pool halls. Designed to work as a combined heat pump and dehumidifier with ventilation and heat recovery, these systems are incredibly efficient offering huge energy savings. Compared to traditional systems, savings of over 60 per cent are achievable and CO 2 emissions dramatically reduced by up to 70 per cent. Located in the stunning Kent Weald countryside, Bethany is a co-educational school for pupils aged 11 to 18.

The Delta’s touchscreen control panel, which is included as standard, gives Calorex customers a flexible and seamless approach to system management and reliable control. Featuring a streamlined user interface, the control system on the popular Calorex Delta features sleek graphics, BACnet connectivity for BMS and a sensor for improved LPHW frost protection in cold climates. There is also an additional sensor which measures LPHW temperature leaving the Delta and, combined with the fresh air temperature sensor, provides accurate frost protection in cold conditions. The Calorex Delta has screen mirroring capabilities to Android and iOS mobile devices using a third-party app, and to a web browser with ActiveX, while Modbus and BACnet connectivity offer extensive options for BMS interfacing.
