GENERAL PURPOSE ( GP ) RATINGDuration: 6 Months course (Every January and July)

GP Rating is a six months residential course approved by D.G Shipping (Govt of India). GP Rating syllabus includes the combined study of Deck and Engineering subjects. This course will cover all aspects of the seafaring profession (Deck and Engine), which also include swimming, physical drills, workshop training, rope and mast climbing, lifesaving appliances usage, firefighting exercises and ship visits etc.

After the training, external examinations are conducted by Board of Examination of Seafarers (BES)under D.G Shipping (Govt of India). In GP rating course students will be trained in both Deck and Engine. This course ensures higher employability of the India Seafarers in the world Markets.

ORIENTATION COURSE FOR CATERING PERSONNEL (OCCP)Duration : 1 Month (14 Days for OCCP and 16 Days for mandatory STCW 2010 Courses)

OCCP course which cater the knowledge on Merchant navy ship / Shipping industry introduced by D.G.Shipping to the catering personnel. Any candidate who completed hotel management diploma or degree must have to undergo the OCCP course to enhance his / her knowledge about shipping. This is course is another avenue for the Hotel Management students to get placed and start their career. There are ample of opportunity for the catering person who completed their degree or diploma in Hotel management in the cruise liner or merchant navy.

This course is also including STCW requirement and Indian CDC will be provided after the completion.

You will earn a minimum stipend of $200 / Month Hands on Training will be provided at the Ship on the various aspect of STCW and other requirement. Students will be closely monitored on the regular basis Training Record Book ( TAR Book) which will be eligible to attend the Block course and the same will be presented to Maritime New Zealand ( MNZ ) prior to the Oral Examination. It’s a mandatory that all the students should keep track on their TAR book.

SHIP VISIT

Ship visit is given to all the students who join SMC irrespective of any courses, this is as importance as the training program. Students will practically see how the ship works with the guidance of our expert faculties. This is done diligently as it’s an important for the students to know where they are after the training program, each student will be taken through on the Deck side, Engine side and Saloon side of the ship. To get familiarize what they have studied and where are they going to be in the rest of their career, as an experience faculty on board who are all worked in Merchant Navy explain each student on the function of each thing in the ship.
