Small changes in behavior can create big changes in your life. Small changes are easy to implement and can even be a lot of fun. Your life will be enhanced without the struggle most people frequently encounter when trying to make larger changes too quickly. Try these small suggestions for big results:

Get a new pillow. Most of us have pillows that are lumpy, stained, and full of dust mites. (Yep, there are tiny scavengers in your pillows!) In many cases, the pillow isn’t the proper firmness or height. Find a pillow that’s comfortable and keeps your spine in alignment.

Wake up 10 minutes earlier. Instead of rushing in the morning, try getting up 10 minutes earlier. Go through your morning routine a little more leisurely or spend time relaxing. Plus, you won’t be so annoyed in traffic on your commute to the office.

Stretch in the morning. Stretching has many benefits. We tend to lose flexibility and mobility as we age. A short stretching session will get the blood flowing and warm up your body for the day ahead. Start now – stretch those arms high over your head for 3 seconds and then slowly lower them to your sides. Feel better? ☺

Have a healthy shake for breakfast. Most quick breakfasts are anything but healthy. A quick protein shake or smoothie with fruit and other healthy ingredients is a wonderful way to start the day, especially if you’re not a morning eater.

Tell someone that you love her. Few words have as much impact as “I love you.” Hint: you can also look in the mirror and tell yourself the same thing. Huge boost to self worth and esteem!

Have green tea in the morning instead of coffee.

While green tea does have a little caffeine, there’s significantly less than the amount found in coffee. Green tea also has excellent anti-inflammatory benefits.

Sit and stand up straight. Good posture seems to be more of a rarity these days. Although it can be difficult to remember to maintain your posture, you’ll be rewarded with fewer aches and pains especially as you age.

Keep a journal. There are many benefits of journaling like penning big dreams, self-improvement, and tracking successes. After 5 straight days of recording your thoughts and being honest with yourself, you may find more clarity and a sense of gratefulness.

Stand up at work. It’s becoming more popular to stand at work. There are special desks made at the proper height for standing. It’s much healthier and you’ll burn more calories by simply standing more.

Take a walk during lunch. Skip the lengthy lunch outing and take a walk instead. You can eat before or after. Pack a nutritious lunch. You’ll save money and stay healthy and even soak up some much needed Vitamin D from the sun.
