10 Best Bollywood Actresses 2014

By MovieReviewPreview.com

10. Shraddha Kapoor Ek Villain, Haider

She is certainly getting there! Shraddha Kapoor, who stormed the entire nation with Aashiqui 2 last year, wasnt much applauded for her acting chops, but for her gorgeous looks and her striking chemistry with her screen-man, Aditya Roy Kapur. But looks like, the actress did realise some dots were missing and is making her best efforts to find them and join them. And it shows! While Ek Villain proved her emoting potential, she only got better and steadier with Haider. Way to go, girl!

9. Deepika Padukone Finding Fanny

Since she was the box-office golden girl last year, we had much higher hopes from Deepika Padukone this year. But the actress couldnt deliver much. Nevertheless, her performance in Homi Adajanias Finding Fanny does score some points, fetching her a position on this list. She impressed us in her Goan avatar, clad in lovely floral dresses, and mouthing firecracker dialogues. Fact is, the leggy lass has it in her; she just needs to lock the right projects on her calendar.

8. Madhuri Dixit Dedh Ishqiya, Gulaab Gang

Madhuri Dixit is not only about an arresting smile and striking looks; she is also a genius of an actress! With Dedh Ishqiya, she proved it yet again. The actress displayed an honest show of a vulnerable widow, who took us by sheer surprise with her layered character as the story unfolded. Full marks to the powerhouse performer for everything she did in Abhishek Chaubeys comedy thriller. On the other hand, Dixit couldnt really cast the same spell on us with Anubhav Sinhas crime drama, Gulaab Gang. She wasnt a total disappointment though.

7. Juhi Chawla Gulaab Gang

Juhi Chawla was the showstopper in Gulaab Gang! She made the film her own with each frame she featured in! We had no idea that the actress, who always warmed the cockles of our hearts with her bubbly, vivacious performances, could stun us with her mean streaks too! Her character is so realistically wicked that you end up loving the way the actress has pulled it off!

6. Parineeti Chopra Hasee Toh Phasee, Daawat-E-Ishq

Parineeti is all about spreading life and merriment when she is in a frame. This year too, even though her flicks were not much of box-office grosses, Chopras performances easily won our hearts. Her super crazy, quirky character and her believable, striking chemistry with Sidharth Malhotra in Hasee To Phasee charmed us. Daawat-e-Ishq, despite a bland treat so far as its storyline is concerned, Parineeti looked genuine in her frames. Her spirited performance is laudable.

5. Priyanka Chopra Mary Kom

The biopic was one of the most hyped and awaited projects of the year. But it failed to put up a sharp and savoury show that we all had expected from it. Nevertheless, Priyanka Chopra, in the title role of the ace boxer, did manage to impress us with a heartwarming projection of a heady cocktail of strength and vulnerability. Her unbeatable acting prowess saved the flat script from going completely unnoticed.

4. Alia Bhatt Highway, 2 States, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya

Alia is a natural in front of the cameras, and the lady proved just that in all of her screen-outings this year. Highway, despite a loose, wishy-washy script, was watchable mostly because it had Veera a crazy girl who lives life like shes on a vacation. In the case of 2 States, if not for Bhatts effortless, charming screen-presence, the film certainly wouldnt have been what it is. Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya, widely tagged as the new-age Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, was a glossy rom-com. In all conscience, Alia Bhatt was the life of the film. Thanks to her sprightly performance, the romance drama kept us hooked to the big screens.

3. Rani Mukerji Mardaani

The fine actress absolutely sunk her teeth into her character of the Crime Branch Officer. Rani Mukerji was spot-on in the gritty drama. She brilliantly projected physical as well as emotional strengths. The first-rate performer was in top form in the flick. Watching her in such a strong, powerpacked role was a true delight for all Rani Mukerji fans.

2. Tabu Haider

Vishal Bhardwajs film was, no doubt, high on performance quotient, and most credit for its box-office feat goes to all the fine actors who are in principal roles in the film. But theres no second opinion about the fact that Haider belongs to Tabu. She is the soul of the film. Her screen-character, which appears to be simple and understood at first, slowly opens its layers and keeps us on the edge of our seats right till the end. Brilliance redefined, truly!

1. Kangana Ranaut Queen

In her roller-coaster ride of a journey of self-discovery, Kangana was a total rockstar. The idea of a girl going on her honeymoon all alone because her fianc has all of a sudden decided not to marry her, is certainly a novel one. And as the film proceeds, everything that was sad and gloomy leaves our minds, and sets in a mood of cheer and ecstasy. All this, because Kangana made us believe its all for real. Her raw appeal, unadulterated spunk, and loud hints of quirkiness it all made Queen what it is today a true inspiring story.
