Offering the most economical method for boring up to 150 feet, GRundOmAT is used in all types of utility construction, including residential plumbing applications. All GRundOmAT models combine unique features that deliver better bores.

The unitherm Heater warms compressed air preventing power loss and seizing of air tools in temperatures below �1° F. Connected between the lubricator and the machine, it can be adjusted to heat the air up to 250° F. it can also be used to warm polyethylene pipes in cold weather making them more flexible and easy to handle. Expanders are used for enlarging the hole after the initial bore is made. The expander is designed for use with a pulling attachment and a steel cable. in addition, it must be assisted with a power winch or some other pulling equipment to assure continued tension on the cable. Lead or Galvanized Steel pipe is pushed out while the new line is pulled in. For lead pipes, a mesh type pulling grip is used to pull on the lead line and steel cable at the same time.

The 11⁄4-inch diameter GRUNDOCRACk Jr. Jr. is effective for small diameter service line replacement. Cable can be pulled by winch, truck hitch, backhoe or other suitable pulling equipment.

Copper or Plastic pipe is split into fragments and embedded into surrounding soil to make room for the new pipe.

GRUNDOSTEER®

Easy to operate and effective in the field, the GRundOSTEER® is ideal for gas and water service line installations in difficult areas where minimal disruption is essential.

The 3-inch diameter pneumatic tool is able to bore up to 200 feet. Sensors on the tool provide pitch and roll information to the operator. An above ground locator is used to track the tool’s position and movement. The operator can make adjustments to the tool’s course by rotating the air hose with a hydraulic tensioning unit called a torquer.

use of a high-strength, wire-reinforced air hose prevents kinking and allows the operator to steer the tool in difficult soil. As the operator rotates the hose, the tool and steering-head rotate. The specially designed steering-head then guides the tool in the chosen direction. Tool rotation takes place within the tool’s outer sleeve, reducing ground friction by as much as 90 percent. The tool does not require any special drilling fluid to work properly.

The tool is “steered” by a rotating, wire-reinforced hose.

RUNDOMAT Hammers Straight Ahead of Conventional ToolsFixed head piercing tools have a tendency to take the line of least resistance when encountering difficult soils and obstacles in their bore path. When they hit an obstruction, they’re easily knocked off-course...resulting in a failed bore.

The reciprocating stepped-cone chisel head action of the GRundOmAT tool is unique because it hammers away at solid obstacles. This two-stroke action means that the piston’s impact is concentrated on the reciprocating tool head for optimum boring performance.

Here’s How It Works.. .Compressed air repeatedly propels the piston against the rear of the chisel head assembly. This first compresses the pre-tensioned steel spring which forces the chisel head assembly forward independently of the main casing to overcome the high initial ground resistance. Then, the same continuous force thrusts the outer casing ahead.

Long, Accurate BoresThe tool follows the pilot bore to the targeted exit, even through rocky soils and cobble. GRundOmAT’s stepped head design assists in fracturing and displacing rock, resulting in the directional stability of the tool. This provides for consistently on-target bores, from short to

long-distance shots.

Minimal MaintenanceReplaceable internal seals ensure no direct metal-to-metal contact between the piston and internal casing, resulting in little wear. The simplicity of design and solid construction of the GRundOmAT guarantees minimal maintenance.
